thus Confederate history is 'good', unqualified white people in jobs is 'merit', qualified non-whites in jobs/military is 'DEI', J6 insurrectionists are 'patriots' while progressive protesters (Gaza, BLM, etc) are 'terrorists'.

That's what drives the Trump movement - white identity politics - more than anything else. Even though there are some deluded non-whites in the movement, the core of it is still white nationalism.
