Last year, gas was at $3 a gallon. The price fell to $2.50 last month. Now its back to $3 in SW Ohio.

Instantaneous price checks don't work for gas. They go up and down very quickly for no particular reason, other than that they are near another station that has a lower/higher price. You need to look for trends in the same station/geographic area over time.

And we live within an hour of 4 refineries, so supply & shipping are not factors.
Crude prices are up 3.3% in the last 5 market days.
