(498 posts)We did not have a standing army so it was derived from the people. The spirit of 2A is to defend this statement.

Sorry I don't know what you mean with your; Not. A. Standing. Army. Clear? Are you asking a question? If so, then no, militias are not standing armies, they are more like the Reserves or National Guard. Some think they may be like definition 4 from your post, but those are generally thought to be mostly foolish and often thought of as dangerous to society. Why would you think a militia is a standing army?

(515 posts)The fact is, whether designed for it or not, whether intentional or not, cars kill far more than guns in this country. Why is that okay? America also loses a lot of people due to heart problems, something that restricting card and promoting walking and cycling would help to resolve. It seems that a majority of the walking and cycling deaths are also caused by cars.

Guns are going.
The only guns I want to see are ones worn by Federal/State/City law enforcement which to me is the militia spoken about.
BTW how is your puny gun going to save you from a bunker busting bomb?

Get guns all of them off the street
and get more security to protect MY right to free assembly anywhere I choose, and my life, liberty and my pursuit of happiness.

(42 posts)I remember back when Super Soakers were introduced, someone was out spraying people with it. One of the people sprayed pulled out a real gun and shot the sprayer.
The city where it happened banned Super Soakers...but not real guns. I guess it's worse to get wet than to get shot.

What I posted was true, broadcast on the news several years ago.
BTW - there was another reply to this person and it was hidden by jury decision as being "hurtful, over the top, etc...". The person who replied to my post called me "drunk and stupid". Is this not hurtful, or over the top? Especially since what I posted was true? Just wondering...not trying to pick a fight or argue with the jury...
