This is ... let's start with "short-sighted" and go on from there. The Laborers' International Union of North America apparently plans to endorse New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie for a second term. NJ.com coverage focuses heavily on one leader of the union:

(7,515 posts)absolutely brilliant in their long range planning and their messaging. Democrats, who consider themselves the intellectually superior party, have been playing defense for over 40 years and routinely fail the messaging wars. That's Democratic hubris and the nation has been paying the price. All of the analysis following Obama's reelection has failed to recognize one simple fact....For the first time, in a long time, a Democrat won the messaging war and he did it with a simple slogan...fairness.

(47,953 posts)It seems like they have forgotten who their enemies are and have fallen for the propaganda, yet again. Doesn't Christie have a few years to go before his next election, anyway? What's the hurry?

(7,515 posts)will be held in Nov. 2013....Not too far off at all. Construction workers in NJ make very good money and NJ is a very expensive state in which to live. (I lived there for 16 years and we had a friend who worked in the construction industry). Republicans have been masters of the divide and conquer strategy...and most people are just selfish enough to be easy prey.

(3,251 posts)Christie is openly hostile to unions, especially teacher unions, yet they back him?
Unbelievable.
