Chuck Schumer on His Decision to Support the Recent CR and HIs New Book

In this video Sen. Chuck Schumer attempts to explain why he supported the recent CR despite opposition from many of his fellow Democrats. During the interview, Sen. Schumer said he supported the CR because if the government had been allowed to shut down, Trump, Musk, and Republicans would have been left in charge of government. Schumer said the government being closed would have allowed Trump and Musk to continue closing down government agencies. Schumer also said he was told by a Republican that if the government was closed down Republicans were going to keep the government closed for six months and continue to shut down government agencies.

The Republican plan would be to have their House committees finalize their portions of the budget and then all those pieces can put into a reconciliation bill and then passed out of House and then the Senate on a simple majority vote that Democrats cannot stop or slow down.

The potential fly in the ointment for Republicans would them losing the special elections coming up in a couple weeks.
