Just curious. Has Trump changed your view of the office of the Presidency?

In other words, if Dems were to win in 2028, has he changed your view of how a Democratic administration should operate in the office?

So if the Democrats take back the WH, the trump admin will be an aberration, you know, like Hitler.

We should be extremely aggressive in restoring and securing democracy, integrity in the media and in elections, cleaning up their massive corruption, etc.

However, whatever faith I had in the intelligence of the American voting public is pretty much gone, and very unlikely to come back.

I don't want a king in any way, but if we are to have it, let it be a wise king.

The Executive has been gaining power since WW2 and perhaps earlier. Trump has relegated Congress to a quasi-advisory council, and frankly Congress hasn't been able to exercise effective power in perhaps 15 years.

I'm more willing to accept a demagogue, too.

My politics have been cheapened by Trump. I'll always vote for a Democrat, but now it is an act of anger and defiance, not one of affirmation.

How should the Democratic President behave? Destroy the wall.

Welcome all the tempest tossed and huddled masses yearning to breathe free.

Oh, and eliminate the Department of Homeland Security. Time for that beast to die.

I always felt presidents have too much power but didn't realize there was nothing to enforce checks and balances on the excesses of a determined sociopath. If the lesson a Democratic administration learned from this is for the president to seize more power, then we are surely stuck in an authoritarian trap.

I think a future Democratic administration, assuming there will be one, should aggressively advance social and economic justice while at the same time, restoring constitutional norms.

Before Trump I would ask myself if my president was smart enough, cared enough about my needs and maybe cared about the future of my country.

After Trump was elected I asked myself if my president was a goddamned Communist, and unfortunately the answer is, "yes. Yes, he is."
