CBS news 60 Minutes is seriously kicking ass on the Trump administration, facing down a lawsuit against them by THE ORANGE PUKE! They are pulling no punches in exposing their nefarious garbage. GOOD ON THEM!! Where the hell is the Democratic Party??

Facts are valuable opinions are cheap. Old-time DUers with a record of fact-based posts have much better credibility than those who dont.
Some people show up to show us where they stand and do nothing but stir the pot.

(7,003 posts)The Dem Party is fighting every day. Why don't folks get that when you don't control the House, Senate and White House you have no power? The Dems have filed over 100 law suits against trump/musk. They are having press conferences. They are having town halls in red states and red districts. Please tell us what you think the Dems could do? As Whoopi said today. it's on us the voters to get out there and protest.

(14,638 posts)With one provision allowing him the power to re-shuffle designated funding in the budget from one dept. to another without congressional approval? Increasing his power and abuse of the treasury?
OF COURSE they should be using "the little" power they have to maximum effect.
Its mind numbing that every Democratic voter isn't pissed as hell at them right now for their complicity and capitulation.

(38,525 posts)Since you're new here, and Canadian, let me explain: the Democratic Party is in the minority in both houses of Congress, with no power over the Executive Branch.
Their power is limited to making public statements and stopping legislation in the Senate through the filibuster.
Think. Again.
(22,456 posts)...their constituents overwhelming want them to vote against.
Someone should tell the Senate that.

(22,456 posts)...a bill that the Dems were refused any input on and that our Representative's constituents wanted them to vote against.
Voting FOR fascist bills that go against the madates if the Constitution is NOT what our Dem representatives should be doing.

(9,639 posts)the continuing resolution. They chose not to filibuster but it was the only way to stop the CR. The fact that the final CR vote got 2 votes from Democrats is completely irrelevant as they had 52 Republican votes - enough to pass it on their own.
Think. Again.
(22,456 posts)...there was no hope of keeping the CR from passing, we are the mnority, but voting FOR an unconstitutional CR that we had no input on, against the wishes of constituents, in such a way that caused division among our party and wrecked Democratic Party approval ratings should not have been done.

(343 posts)The Democrats are NOT the majority in either houses of Congress.
All they have IS the filibuster; cloture cuts off debate and thus the filibuster. They didn't nor have they voted "yes" on the Continuing Resolution, in fact it went according to party lines 54-46 (The Republicans are the majority in the Senate 53-47).
Now, as much as Senator Schumer should be criticized for NOT using the filibuster. How many of you here, were all gung ho about eliminating the filibuster not too long ago?
Are you now saying the former Senators Sinema and Manchin were *gasp* right? I'm no Sinema fan, but let's be for real, nobody is coming out of this painted with glory.

A lot of you need to save your ire for the actual people in charge; the Republican Party.
Think. Again.

"
But you are also correct that I wrongly claimed some Dems voted "YES" for the CR, when in fact they unecessarily voted "YES" for cloture, knowingly allowing the unconstitutional CR to pass.
In this case, my ire is rightfully aimed at both the republicans for writing the unconstitutional and harmful CR (without any input from Dems) and at the Dems for offering their assistance in passing the CR at the expense of their Oath to defend the Constitution and at the expense of the continued support of their constituents and goodwill among their Democratic colleagues in the House.

. what the Dems and the outraged citizenry are doing. While some people hang out at DU and grouse that nobody in our side is doing anything and getting no results, masses of folks actually are.
