'I should be the leader': Schumer digs in as his own party rebels

Looks like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer didn’t get the memo: Democratic voters (shockingly!) want their leaders to fight back against President Donald Trump instead of surrendering to his autocratic power grab and getting nothing in return.

But in a series of interviews on Tuesday, Schumer pushed back against critics asking him to step down or be replaced, arguing that he remains the “best leader for the Senate.”

“I should be the leader,” he said on “The View.” “I’m sort of the orchestra leader. And I have a lot of talent in that orchestra.”

In an interview with “CBS Mornings,” he added, “We have a lot of good people, but I am the best at winning Senate seats.”

A leader knows how to get his team behind him. Schumer doesn’t seem to think he needs to do that. That, in and of itself, disqualifies him.

You need to resign, and let someone, who has the courage you obviously lack to lead. He wasn't even brave enough to go on his own book tour because he admits he's scared of his own party members.

If he can't even face his own party members, why the hell should we believe he has it in him to stand up against Trump and the rest of the evil Magats?

For the times we are in. Then Senator Schumer needs to get the updated memo the American people are sending

I thought Schumer was very good on the VIEW, further I believe he made a good case but he'd get his ass kicked when prosecution has it's turn.

Doesn't seem to be a good choice. In the previous interview it sounded a lot like he was saying he personally made the choice of who would be in the race for senator in other states which seems to be overstating things.

I think at the very best he's not capable of effectively arguing in favor of his vote. At worst he's trying to cover for not being able to hold his caucus together. I would hope that he's just bad at communicating why he voted as he did. But the redirection isn't a good look.

But only if, and so long as a majority of Senate Democrats want that to be so. Should that no longer be the case, then you are no longer the leader, or shouldn't be.

(Since he tossed Al Franken under the bus seven years ago, he has been in the "I don't care" category, as far as I am concerned).
