She told me she hates Bill Gates because he sent vaccines to Africa that sterilized the women there. Of course they say things like this when they are working in your mouth that you are unable to reply to. I hope the expression on my face got my message through.
I might have complained to the dentist, but I like him - he was one of the very few dentists in my area who would take Medicaid patients back when I was on Medicaid 15 yrs. ago for about 3 years. And he also takes my Medicare, some dentists around here do not take Medicare, either. His long-time hygienist retired last year (who I liked). And I like him, too.
Just cant escape these nutters

(450 posts)She should NOT be talking politics or conspiracy theories on the job. But, then, maybe your dentist believes the same things as the dental hygienist, he just doesn't talk about it.

Worst case I ever say was a new one at my regular dentist's office who literally cursed at me for being a smoker. I stopped her and explained that I needed my teeth cleaned, not a lecture about my bad habit. Her response was to stab my gums with a probe. Wow! I got up from the chair and told her to bring the dentist in immediately. I explained to him what had happened and why I was leaving. He fired her on the spot.
Smoking is a bad habit. I wish I had never started. However, don't stab my gums because I asked you to get on with the cleaning.

(1,932 posts)I didnt think Medicare paid for any dental services or treatments. If you dont mind me asking, what dental services did you have Medicare paid for? Inquiring minds would like to know. Thanks!

(1,932 posts)I was inquiring about traditional Medicare, which I still believe doesnt have any dental coverage.
Ms. Toad
(38,637 posts)Humana indicates that its supplements don't cover dental care, but that some of its Medicare Advantage plans do.
Human does offer an independent dental plan (which I have), but it is unrelated to Medicare.

(17,740 posts)does not pay for dental care. You usually have to get it from a private company. I know thats what I had to do for my parents and for my husband and myself.

(38,637 posts)But it was the only supplement that could be purchased with vision, dental and silver sneakers when I shopped 3 years ago.
That's why I asked.
One through blue Cross that is a federal plan we qualify for because my husband retired from the postal service. We pay all the premium, just like we pay the total premium for our other health insurance. Postal service pays nothing for retirees health insurance that I am aware of. When he was working, they paid a portion of it.

(40,575 posts)It pays for checkups and cleanings twice a year. Two years ago I needed a crown and it paid for that, too.

(22,150 posts)They do this to people at their place of work, or otherwise trapped, so people have to listen to their crazy. We have to speak up about that - it is a passive-aggressive tactic.

(68,201 posts)give me an appointment with someone who "didn't yell at me." He did. And I don't remember seeing the nasty woman ever again in his office. He's a really nice guy and a good dentist but I had to give him feedback about how his staff was treating a patient.
