I was watching Rachel Maddow tonight and it was mentioned that is possible that the school where the shooting occurred will never open again. Then, an idea hit me:
What better expression of the nation's support than setting up a nationwide fund to collect money to find a new location to build a new school for the surviving students, dedicated to the memory of the angels and teachers who lost their lives. A brand new school with none of the painful memories associated with the pain of this horrible nightmare. Any remaining money in the fund could be used to set up scholarships. A brand new beginning for the living students and their parents.
The site of the old school could be demolished and a city park built as a memorial.
Edit: to remove typo

(86,690 posts)I watched that show too and I was wondering where they would put a new school. But to your idea, I think it makes sense as that schoolhouse is just going to haunt anyone trying to do anything there. I know that ghosts exist as I have seen and spoken to some, they are usually energy of souls/beings who weren't aware that they were no longer physically here/there. Most needed to be informed that they could go beyond... I can imagine that there will be a lot of residual negative energy in that place and it will be hard for all, physical and those who have passed. The energy of the killer would be enough to create a bad scene there forever and a day. Turning of the earth/soil is a good way to dissipate that energy...
It's a good idea on a number of levels no matter what your beliefs are.
