The Double Standard of Democratic Rule versus Republican Rule and Perception

Last edited Sun Mar 23, 2025, 03:53 PM - Edit history (1)

When Democrats Win versus When Republicans Win:

Be the House, Senate, or the presidency, when Democrats Win, the Republican sound machine and corporate media badger Democrats to "Reach out in a spirit of Bipartisanship" (aka. give in to the things we want) and caution Democrats "not to go too far with radical idea."

When Republicans win even by the smallest of margins, the GOP figuratively says, "Hey Fuck You! You lost; get over it." "We have a mandate to do whatever we want." And the corporate media says, "Well elections do have consequences you know"

As an example President Biden accomplished many great things, but pushing for National Healthcare for all Americans would have been deemed too radical. Now, Trump and the Republicans are going for broke with the lunacy of Project 2025 and many are frustrated that there is not a stronger more coordinated effort and messaging by the Democratic Party. We need a younger group of Democratic leadership that will message better and start playing offense.

...this is maybe the bigger need. The right wing has a North Korean Style propaganda system to echo and read all of their talking points, and they have cowed the corporate media (much of whom is owned by people who will benefit from Trump's 4.5 trillion tax cuts) into being a saner looking version of their North Korean style propaganda system.

The media has been promoting Republican frames, topics, talking points, and catch-phrases for decades.

If a democrat is a hair away from perfect, they'll pounce on the one slight error and call it a scandal or a gaffe and ponder if their career can survive.

If a Republican is a hair away from pure evil and utter incompetence, they'll shrug and say well the polls didn't move much so ho hum, let's move on. When was the last time they used Donnie and "gaffe" or "scandal" in the same sentence?

Name a democratic scandal, Donnie's probably done worse by an order of magnitude at least. But you wouldn't know it listening to the msm.

Democrats need a better strategy, sure, but let's not kid ourselves about who owns the microphone.

and it drives me crazy.

When has the media ever demanded that an R president appoint a Democrat to their cabinet? Never, right?

Yet, every time a Democrat wins the White House, it is the media who pushes for them to appoint a Republican.

The tyranny of executive orders? Obama’s and Biden’s were executive overreach. Now ?

Could it be they weren’t sincere?

Or will they continue to allow Republican Reps, Senators and states continue to brag about how much "return" they get on their federal dollars?

Will they continue to fund Republican areas with federal tax dollars mostly paid by blue states and areas? At what point do you let these folks who want low taxes actually have to live within their means? You don't like federal government or paying taxes then fine make it work with the resources you're able to generate. The rest of us know how things work and that you shouldn't get more than what you put in.
