some insurance companies are considering raising premiums or potentially refusing to insure Teslas, citing the rising risk of damage and repair costs." according to Google AI. (hehe)
Tesla owners across America are living in fear of having their EVs trashed by activists lashing out at CEO Elon Musks controversial DOGE efficiency drive that has cost thousands of federal jobs. But even drivers whose Teslas arent targeted by vandals could find themselves with a nasty shock further down the line.
Insurers are warning that the attacks could raise premiums for all Tesla drivers and potentially even lead to cars like the Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck being blacklisted by insurance companies.

Why would it be a poor assumption to think that was why he originally chose to buy a Tesla EV? I am surprised however that he replaced it with an ICE powered Chevrolet Tahoe instead of another brand of EV.
FYI, you will never see me driving one of those behemoths (or a Tesla for that matter).
When I went into space four times, I mean, I could see how thin the atmosphere is over this planet. Its as thin as a contact lens on an eyeball, and we have got to do a better job taking care of it, Kelly told CNNs Jake Tapper on State of the Union.
I have not seen in my time in the Senate many folks that deny that the climate is changing. That was a thing of the past. Now is: What do we do about it? We passed the Inflation Reduction Act, which is a big down payment on reducing the amount of carbon we put up into the atmosphere. That will make a difference over time. We obviously have to do more, he added.[/excerpt

(220 posts)bought my 2007 gas guzzling Jeep, I would have had to replace my mode of transport at least once every couple of years not to mention how often the brakes would need repair. The driveway to my horse farm is on a hillside and longer than a football field, quite steep in places with 2 very deep ravines on the side opposite the house. At the bottom of the hill is a creek that overflows and one has to be high enough off the ground to cross it in a heavy rain.
Getting to some of the flipper houses that I bought and repaired was even worse and I needed the gas guzzling Ford pick-up truck with an 8' bed to go up and down mountains and around horseshoe curves to transport drywall and plywood to the job.
A 6 cylinder engine car can't pull a horse trailer and just thinking of the brakes giving out coming down a mtn. and going around a curve that has a deep ravine makes me quiver.
Not everyone lives the same life style or has the same needs.
I won't disparage you for your choice; if you won't disparage me and M. Kelly, for ours!

I would have to imagine as well that the majority of owners thought they were helping the environment, and are probably Dems as well. Data from Strategic Vision, which has surveyed hundreds of thousands of car buyers, shows that since 2019, 38% of Tesla buyers have identified themselves as Democrats, and 30% have said theyre Republicans. (from 2/3/2022).
Destruction of the personal property of others in such a manner should never be tolerated by anyone, regardless of politics.

Vandalism is punished based on the value of the property. If you are convicted of the Felony form of Vandalism, you face up to three years in a state prison, a fine of up to $50,000, or both prison and a fine.
Penalties For Vandalism Under CPC §§594(a)(1)-(3)
Misdemeanor Vandalism - less than $400
If you're convicted of misdemeanor vandalism, the penalty may be:
A term of up to one (1) year in a county jail; OR,
A fine of up to $1000 (one-thousand dollars); OR,
Both a fine and imprisonment.
Felony Vandalism - $400 +
If you are charged with violating Section 594 as a felony, the penalty may be:
A term of up to sentenced to three (3) years in a state prison; OR,
A fine of up to $50,000 (fifty-thousand dollars); OR,
Both imprisonment and a fine.

It's not fun.

As we lose our grasp on democracy, you can expect more people to act out and more pain. Look at what's happening with protests and demonstrations in Istanbul, where they locked up the mayor on trumped up charges because he posed such a democratic threat in running against Erdogan.

(9,148 posts)Who would want to buy a Tesla now? Youd have to worry every time you parked it outside your garage. And insurance companies are going to jump ship or charge exorbitant prices. Elons name is synonymous with poison worldwide. How does Tesla recover? I dont see it happening.

I'm simply pointing out that these results are not unexpected.
If you bought a Tesla in the past, then the simple fact is that some of those profits went toward putting Trump into power and are being used to coerce and corrupt Republican leaders, whether you wanted it or not.

Many Dems and Save-the-Earthers, at least those who could afford a Tesla, bought them back before Elon entered politics and bought trump. They had it on good authority that they were doing the right thing, too.
So now my niece has put 3 different stickers on her car to indicate shes not a trumpista or a fan of musk. Sure she has a good job, but shes also a human being with a daughter in college and a husband who has survived (so far) a torturous surgery for a complicated cancer last year.
I hate this whole grotesque business of blaming everyone else for Musks sins, and then doing them violence.
