So, if the tariffs are now off, then how will the mfg jobs come back?

Trump and surrogates promised us that tariffs would bring back mfg jobs and provide revenue to the federal govt. Okay, but now that they're off again, how will those mfg jobs come back? And what about the revenue?

This is the secret of Trump's appeal. It can be whatever anyone wants at any given time. If you want free trade, Trump is your guy. If you want protectionism, Trump is your guy.

Update: Tariffs are back...sort of..

CNBC: Trump pledges auto, pharma tariffs in ‘near future,’ sowing more trade confusion

President Donald Trump on Monday said he will soon announce tariffs targeting automobiles, pharmaceuticals and other industries, signaling his plans to pile more sweeping duties on top of his forthcoming “reciprocal tariffs.”

“We’ll be announcing cars very shortly,” Trump said at a Cabinet meeting. “We already announced steel, as you know, and aluminum.”

“We’ll be announcing pharmaceuticals at some point,” he said, “because we have to have pharmaceuticals.”

“So we’ll be announcing some of these things in the very near future, not the long future, the very near future,” Trump said

Love Japan's reply. Other counties getting smart, telling the bully to shove it.

The executive class hates uncertainty and the first thing they resort to in hard times is layoffs.

Shit gonna get worse, I'm sorry to say. Hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.
