Boebert suggests GOP could rename DC 'District of America'

Boebert suggests GOP could rename DC ‘District of America’ (The Hill)

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) urged lawmakers to stop making fun of President Trump’s decision to rename the Gulf of America, suggesting the nation’s capital could undergo the same change.

“I would caution my colleagues on the other side of the aisle to refrain from making jokes about the Gulf of America because next up may be the District of America that we are working on,” Boebert said during a Tuesday hearing for the House Natural Resources Committee.

Does somebody want to tell her that Columbia is an alternate name for America, in honor of that Italian dude?

for the USA in the 19th century- see the earlier post on “Columbia the Gem of the Ocean”

Or does she think the District of Columbia has something to do with the country of Colombia, which IIRC didn’t exist when the district was named?

names throughout the country. She better get busy with some legislation to rename them all. She forgets the origins of this country. I'm sure she's never heard of Amerigo Vespucci.

I always remember an assignment we had back in 3rd or 4th grade... we had to look at a map of New York State (that's where we were) and pick out all the Native American city names. One of those assignments I always remembered because it was fun and interesting. We learned that there are loads of cities with Native American names. There are also thousands of cities with Spanish names... and French and Dutch etc. If boebert had graduated high school she may have learned this.

Anyone remember that video of boeberts mother ranting about brown people?

Working on. Those repubs so hard at work.

It would be Washington DA - rolls right off the tongue.
And would never be confused with the Washington District Attorney, would it?

She's an idiot.
