And my friend is asking didnt you just get Dunc bathed cleaned at groomers yesterday. I replied yep pig pen was bathed groomed cost me $125 with tip.
And golden boy was definitely clean for at least few hours.
I mentioned to my friend Im thinking I should probably just take Dunc to an automated car wash price is $15.
And thats with wax and undercoat.

(3,273 posts)Look for videos of dogs using car washes. They all seem to love the back scratches from the brushes

Back in the day Idfill up a kiddy pool with water and let the dogs enjoy themselves. Damn they made a mess but were they happy or what? Then Id hose them down, mix flea and tick powder into the pool water, throw them back in and then let then dry off in the sun.😀

Decades ago we had a neighbor who beat his dog. The dog was his fathers but he walked out on the family and migrated. The dog used to watch us walking ours and playing with them. He heard the happy barks. One day his dog walked over to our yard and never left. He never ever came for the dog. Years after he said the dog hated him and he was glad the dog left.

(26,257 posts)about animals hating humans. They see far more than we do, and when they see a human that they hate, there's a damn good reason for them to hate their human, leave and find a better home. There's enough of us out there to take these animals in, make them part of our families. The endless job one gets from having animals that truly love you is priceless. They say that people that don't care for animals are a special breed of humans that rankles the fur on all of us, and makes us wonder about such people who harbor such hate. I avoid people like this, the haters.
Life is already hard enough as it is, w/o these sorts of people / haters around.
Me, I would rather have 3 loving animals around me like I did, the joy was something else, and every time they saw us/me, they were so happy, full of joy, just wonderful. They always loved going on a trip, w/ us. Whether it was to the grocery store or somewhere else (short trips), they would all stand up and watch the sights, and it was so neat.
They are all gone now, being that they reached the old age of 16, 17, 18 years, and it's somewhat lonely, here in the house. One day, we'll open up our hearts again, and bring back/adopt some more pets that deserve good homes. Right now, we're mourning the loss of our 3 babies, but time will heal us and we adopt again. And you never know, we may run across a lost animal seeking a home, and perhaps we'll be so lucky/blessed again.

Except one time a freshly washed dog rolled on our bed. She wanted to make sure we slept with the aroma of wet dog.

(15,651 posts)That golden retrievers have no thoughts whatsoever behind their eyes 😁
And they may only possess one brain cell😉

(8,880 posts)Mine refused to retrieve, which was fine as I didn't shoot birds. He did, however, teach a toddler I took care of how to retrieve. I'd toss the ball, dog would go 6 feet then lay down, knowing he had trained the toddler well, and SHE would trot after the ball, bringing it back to him to give to me.
He also tried to figure out how to ride a bike when the toddler grew and I was working with her to ride a bike. Break time for cool juice and a short rest for her... then he really tried to work out how to hop on that bike. He had been paying attention, almost pulled it off.

Gracie is a-okay with going to the groomer. I tried taking the Dukester one time. They said, don't ever bring him back......

(40,578 posts)She hates it so much, were always asking, what kind of Lab are you? Youre supposed to love the water.
She says she hates smelling like shampoo. And yes she will also do like Dunc and go outside and roll in dirt.

(13,282 posts)him for a few days after, usually get him bathed before a car trip with hotel or a dog sitting experience which is rare as we barely leave him.
Robbie is 8 and owns our hearts. We did have a groomer who charged less then she moved and almost doubled the price. My hubby has been taking him to a self cleaning place that has everything ready, and only costs $22, easier there than at our house because at least he gets warm water. Not letting him my bath!
Trimming the nails and hair around them is more time consuming so we get groomer every once in awhile.
