I never thought he would be the ideal candidate because of the baggage he has. I recognize that he has often taken very liberal positions, but his current actions confuse that.

The media is not a fair playing field as there are many totally MAGA outlets and few overtly liberal ones. Trump and others LABELED the mainstream media which attempts to be even handed as liberal. So, his podcast when he speaks to but only gently pushes back on Republican liars, is not just a waste, but to some may give the liars credibility.

I don't know who the best choices will be for 2028, but I don't see it as him. My choices would be a newer fresher face with far less baggage. There are several governors who meet that description.

Every election we waste so much energy trying to win MAGA votes as if we are going to change their minds. They show up for their candidates every dang time and they vote in big numbers. Unrelated to this topic, today I listened to a YouTube video with Bill Burr on one of the late-night shows. He said that what fRump and his close followers hate more than anything is to be laughed at.

Bells went off in my head - yeah, right! Rather than attempt to engage in any sort of rational discussion with those on the right, why not just laugh at them! If one attempts a discussion with them, you then get the MTG types calling us Commies or Socialists or Marxists (as though she could elucidate on this). To me, the psychology of this is great - laughing at their idiocy in a way forces them to respond in a somewhat different manner, it puts them in a defensive rather than attack mode.

So we need to shake the Democratic party a bit, and find out who is self absorbed, interested in their own political advancement and using us to get there,, and those who are committed to the United States of America and its constitution and its values.
