In fairness, DOGE wants to do something smart!

Standardization of commodity products like batteries is a win for consumers, and breaks down barriers for new-entrants to a market. It also keeps haz-mat out of the landfills.

Can food containers be next? Where DO all the lids for my Tupperware (or Rubbermaid) containers go?

If they wanted to go all the way with the joke it would have been a Tesla battery and Musk would have claimed to have designed it himself.

I can already buy, or in some cases 3D print, adapters to use other batteries.
I don't do it because I'm a Makita guy and have never had an issue with any of their batteries.

1. One supplier equals a monopoly.
2. One supplier equals pricing set at whatever Positec wants to charge.
3. One supplier equals no pressure to innovate, or improve a faulty product.
4. Positec's batteries are 20V. Some manufacturers, like Milwaukee and DeWalt, have already moved past that,
which would render their research and design null and void.

This wreaks of favoritism and government officials with investments in Positec.

More lawsuits incoming.

I somehow doubt it. Plus, all the harm they have done and will do will far exceed any benefits we get.
