Utah sixth-grader found with gun in class reportedly says parents encouraged him

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/12/18/utah-sixth-grader-found-with-unloaded-gun-in-class-reportedly-says-parents/

A Utah sixth-grader, who told classmates he was encouraged by his parents to bring a gun to school after the Connecticut school shooting, was apprehended by teachers after he was found with an unloaded .22-caliber handgun, Fox13Now.com reported.

The unidentified student, described in the report as an 11-year-old boy, reportedly pulled the gun from his backpack during recess Monday at West Kearns Elementary School, which is in a suburb of Salt Lake City.

Isabel Rios, a fellow sixth-grader, said the boy pointed the gun at her head and said he was going to kill her, the report said.

Students did not immediately alert teachers about the gun. A district spokesman told the station that once teachers were alerted, the student was "apprehended in 30 to 45 seconds" and brought to the principal's office.

For this. Including mandated whole family counselling and going to their house and tossing it for all guns. Fuck these people.

9. Come on. Just admit that some of gun culture's parents aren't good role models, or responsible

gun owners.

Are you one of those that think Pediatricians shouldn't talk to parents about guns in the home?

I don't blame the kid, he's 11 year's old, but his parents piss me off. Seriously, the state should take all of their guns away and then consider doing the same to the kids. That can't be a healthy environment.

This is one of many reasons why the "arm everyone" approach advocated by certain gun *ahem* advocates simply won't work.

There are certain neighborhoods in LA and other parts of the country where a large number of the population from age 11 to about their early 20's are all armed and yet those are some of the most dangerous places in this country. Clearly arming people doesn't make them less prone to violence.
