The DOGE goons made another tech blunder early this week when they crashed the website of the agency that gives nearly $1.6 trillion to almost 70 million Americans every year.
The Social Security Administration (SSA) site has gone largely offline for countless beneficiaries who are worried that their personal information has been entirely deleted.
On Monday several people reported being unable to access their online accounts, weeks after Elon Musks Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) began hacking the agency apart from the inside. The cyber glitch has largely prevented elderly people and low-income families from accessing and managing their information, applying for government services, making or receiving payments, and much more.
The mistake was likely made after Musks DOGE team launched untested software on the site. The squad behind DOGE includes a crew of six young men under the age of 26 (including a 19-year-old college freshman).

Millions of Social Security recipients got erroneous messages that their payments stopped as computer systems keep glitching
The Social Security Administrations' already-fragile computer systems are suffering more glitches than usual, according to reports. One breakdown recently resulted in the agency sending an erroneous message to millions of recipients that said their payments had ended, creating panic. That's as critical IT staff are leaving amid steep payroll cuts.
The Social Security Administration's already-fragile and antiquated technology has been having more glitches than usual, sources told CNN.
One example is last week's outage of the MySSA portal, which allows Social Security recipients to manage their benefits online. Other cloud and internal systems were also impacted.
That came as Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency has been slashing payrolls across the federal government. As a result, IT staff who maintain critical systems are shrinking and less able to fix problems. Meanwhile, SSA has been steering more people online as employees are cut and phone service is curbed.

I accessed MySSA last week with no problem. Plus, my checking account says I have a pending payment due tomorrow from SS.
It's not that the technology is fragile. It's that few younger people know anything about a COBOL based system.

(26,404 posts)COBOL, it won't happen as fast as these idiots claim.
As one being in the programming world for 45 years, it won't happen. I guarantee it.
And you right, COBOL was one of roughly 10 languages I knew when I initially coded and programmed, and there were / are literally tens of billions lines of code out there.
It simply costs too much to recode and test, it would take forever.
Muskrat and his doge idiots are using ball preen hammers to recode a tiny tiny portion of the existing code and are full of BS when they claim otherwise.
And they're/Industry is still desperate to hire COBOL programmers if any of us are still alive out there.
Besides, I think I speak for a lot of us that we wouldn't work for muskrat or his doge crew, you couldn't pay us enough.
