the obvious bias during the 2022, 2023, and 2024 NFL season towards the Kansas City Chiefs, guess what: Three field officials have been fired, all of whom were connected to multiple controversies involving ridiculous penalties which allowed KC to win games.
You know, Im getting tired of know-nothings telling me that what I witness with my own eyes is not happening. This became de riguer with Trump and now everyone has a way of negating the obvious truths. And boy, was it obvious. Its like the UAPs: all these military, law enforcement, and responsible civilians see crafts which exhibit non-ballistic motion at 3000 mph, and are told you didnt see that. BS in extremis.

(44,738 posts)Eagle Fan here. Im sorry the Eagles pulled some starters in the second half of the Super Bowl. My perception but throughout the season it seemed the Chiefs expected the gratuitous nonsense.

(2,212 posts)After the way we lost to them the last time (I'll say it was a call where the refs would usually swallow the whistle with the game on the line, let alone the SUPER BOWL, even if it was TECHNICALLY correct), this Super Bowl was SOFA KING satisfying. And that 50+ yard pass to the Slim Reaper was the most gorgeous thing I've ever seen!

(28,355 posts)I have watched the complete game which I recorded five times and never tire of the highlights. I also watched as many national sports shows and panels as I could and still do.
Greatest thing in sports Ive seen in a long time

(2,212 posts)I stayed up WAY too late watching every interview and panel I could. E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!

(4,493 posts)To me it seems the AFC has its dynasties: the Patriots for over a decade, then passed the torch to the Chiefs.
It's my opinion that some fat cats get fatter with the gratuitous repeat performances.

(5,164 posts)I am. Since Alex Karras and Paul Horning (sic) were given one year expulsion from football (yes, I am that old), I never thought that gambling would be an issue again in the NFL.
But, every game now, its the spread, its the buy-into-this-app to get your points, or free something
when you join the gambling thing.
I guess if I really thought about it, any game now has to be considered at risk of being influenced by the spread or who wins and who benefits. Maybe, sadly, the NFL will turn out like professional boxing has done for me - something that I will tune out.

(64,354 posts)thinking there were "bad" calls benefitting KCC. Those calls gave KCC an advantage in really tight games. I'm not shocked there was cheating.

(44,738 posts)Oh the angst when someone called a bad call a bad call.

(12,636 posts)Did Patriots cheat during Super Bowl 36?
Mad Mike Martz had many trick plays ready to go yet the Patriots were magically in position for each one. Later it was discovered an elderly man was filming these plays during practice from high up.
Commish Goodell destroyed all spy gate material "for the good of the game."

(44,738 posts)In the Navy we called it the appearance of impropriety. It usually got ya in trouble once and stuck to you for the long run. But not the Patriots.
Always have been fond of the Rams from way back. Roman Gabriel QBd the Rams and the Eagles a long, long time ago.

(1,410 posts)As a 49er fan it was tough to watch.
Due to social media focus on the issue, they couldn't pull the same crap in the last Super Bowl.
And it isn't just the NFL. The NBA had a proven cheater calling games, Tim Donaghy, go back and look at the calls during the Suns/Spurs playoff series.
Blatant cheating and in this case, it went all the way up to the NBA Commissioner.

(3,271 posts)They barely beat losing teams and only get by with dumb luck and bad calls. This post Super Bowl should have been Bills-Lions. Thats the game the Baron wanted to see. But since everyone watched this one, there was no way the refs could have thrown the game for the Cheats without everyone noticing.

(4,493 posts)I have tons of respect for Dan Campbell and the Lions. I wanted them to win the NFC in the 2023 season, when they lost to San Francisco.
You might enjoy checking out that December 15 Bills-Lions game.

(3,271 posts)A rematch would have been a more entertaining Super bowl. Instead, we had the blow out. A team that couldnt cheat and couldnt get help from the refs playing a solid team
Dan
(5,164 posts)Might finally make it to the Super Bowl, but there wasnt any slip ups in the Playoffs, the Lions got an ass whipping from the Washington Commanders.

(4,493 posts)They were "undefeated" in the regular season except for the game they lost to the Bills, yet no one suggested Mahomes as MVP. Kinda curious. They barely beat mediocre teams. And they cry like babies if a call goes against them.
The behavior of Mahomes and Andy Reid after the regular season game they lost to the Bills in 2023 was shamefully pathetic. Mahomes had toddler fits on the sidelines, and displayed infantile poor sportsmanship by bitching to Josh Allen about the loss.
I can tell you, I wasn't the only Bills fan thrilled by their crushing defeat in the Super Bowl to the Eagles. It was glorious! I had no intention of watching the game until I peeked and witnessed the slaughter. I became an instant Philly fan.
I do wonder if the revenue and over the top attention the presence of Taylor Swift must have brought in for them had anything to do with their magical wins.
I never would have accused you of being insane for pointing out the obvious pampering of the Chiefs.
Dan
(5,164 posts)I just think that the NFL wanted a one time Three-Peat Champion.
I agree the Chiefs were very mediocre all thought the season.

(93,532 posts)... that's cheating and people still have him in commercials.
You take away the three games and you still have a playoff run ...
Also, what about the first 3 seasons Mahomes was QB?
Really, those wins are all cheats involving refs?

(28,355 posts)Your OL is when the defense is not hamstrung by BS holding calls or roughing the passer calls. Your boy Mahomes is average at best.
The difference between the Chiefs fans and the Eagles fans is the Eagles fans know when their team sucks and act appropriately. Everyone knew you were being carried by the referees and the NFL brass.
Not anymore

(93,532 posts)We'll see this year, but the "they cheated" crap isn't a valid argument.
Too much empirical evidence of the opposite
PCIntern
(28,355 posts)Gratuitous meaningless penalties. None when the game was on the line and your OL held on every play and was almost never called and absolutely never when the game was on the line. Eagles showed that your team fundamentally sucks.
uponit7771
(93,532 posts)... and has empirically (through some peer reviewed credible process) shown there were "gratuitous meaningless penalties" more for the Chiefs than any other team ... Let me Google that ...hmmm
Nope, nothing ... Some shit on twitter maybe but nothing with data held to unbiased research level.
As a fan I can say they're lucky asf and that NO DOUBT ran out during Eagles game were OL and OC was exposed for all to see with no course correction.
But refs for chiefs ... Come on man ... Refs for Brady YEP!!
PCIntern
(28,355 posts)Eagles fans are often derided for being harsh and obnoxious but thats only because they know when their players arent performing up to snuff. We know when we suck and admit it.
But you guys became the NFL wonderboys because Brady retired and NE fell apart -they loved your guy Mahomes who could do no wrong. So State Farm commercials and constant media puffery made KC into the titular kings of the hill. The NFL has marketing in mind round the clock.
Not so much, eh? You got the crap stomped out of you despite the opening bullshit offensive PI call against the Eagles. I believe that our coach read them the riot act which he was capable of doing.
And I watched many Chiefs games and since Ive only been watching the game of football since 1958, I know constant offensive holding when I see it. In football and basketball, the non-calls are as important as the calls. And I dare you to find penalties called against your beloved team when they were on one of their patented last drives to pull out the game. Nuh-uh. Nope.
And I dont need studies of statistics: you could watch them drag down defensive linemen on many plays, but you would probably say that they lost their footing. But its not just Philly: talk to any knowledgeable Bills fan.
Take your loss like we have always taken ours when we sucked. You got the crap kicked out of your team. It could have been 40+ to 6 if Sirianni hadnt put the scrubs in during garbage time.
uponit7771
(93,532 posts)Don't you find "they cheated..." shit obnoxious if not followed up with empirical evidence politically or in other context?
Either way I meant to be obnoxious a little but not go too far with it.

(5,164 posts)I would say that the two previous seasons by the Chiefs - were really good.
But this last season, they were not that good
and I liked the Chiefs.
