"I haven't seen an immigrant case capture the US imagination & news like this since Elian Gonzales"

Lisa Rubin on Chris Jansing/MSNBC, a few minutes ago. The courts are moving at speed — more than one judge is fed up to the teeth with the contempt of trump and his DOJ. Barbara McQuade & Lisa R agreeing that everything the judges are doing comports with constitutional law and SCOTUS precedent.

Little Elian: Judges — news media — Americans — foreign nation. How many here remember that case? I do.

The Trump admin is basking in the attention and the fixation on the case

For one thing its taking the focus off their tariff and economic and DOGE and Musk and price of eggs and Ukraine and Gaza failures

And it shows their base they are standing up for harsh deportations to brutal gulags and standing against the judiciary in order to do so

Very controversial and high emotions.

The press is (surprisingly) giving Garcia's case continuous coverage. A good thing bc that has fueled American outrage that is finally torn through the massive propaganda war on the subject of forced deportation.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia gives the issue a face. A single man's unlawful kidnapping and deportation to a gulag prison in El Salvador has, indeed, shaken things up. No criminal history, in the country legally, a working man married to an American and raising children, also a union member/apprentice. His union has pledged to fight Garcia's unlawful deportation.

Americans are coming together on this issue because they're beginning to see themselves in Garcia's plight.

What is done to one is done to all. If not now, certainly in the near future.

It's a beginning.
