(785 posts).......of the times, opulent and grandiose. It's the fact that Trump owns it and has hung his idiotic portrait in the home that renders it so objectionable. If it was in Italy it would be a tourist attraction.

(4,688 posts)Just what I had expected. It kind of reminded me of Belle Watling's place in "Gone With the Wind." I guess it is no surprise that Melania lives there.

(3,164 posts)There's a big difference between "real" baroque and this fake stuff. It's obvious in the clash of design and purpose. The baroque had an over-the-top vibe that we might find cluttered today, but it harmonized.
This is just throwing everything shiny together whether it fits or not. And every.single.room.

(10,476 posts)about home decor or various styles, but I agree with your take. I happen to like baroque, but this ain't it. I couldn't say why, but I think you hit it.

(7,319 posts)Hearst decorated his house with museum pieces from his collection. This is just...a cheap knock off with no sense of history or taste. It's "tell me how much of tasteless trust fund kid you are without telling me".

(2,631 posts)Who could possibly think that decor is beautiful? It is way too ostentatious, a monument to bad taste.

(2,307 posts)I have to say, though, it isn't as tacky as Ivana's townhouse. Close, but not quite. I saw pictures of it online when it was for sale (I dont know if it still is) and yikes!

(252,129 posts)And not only did TFG steal that crest for himself, but he changed the word at the top of the crest from "Integrity" (in Latin) to the word "Trump."
