(4,708 posts)Just what I had expected. It kind of reminded me of Belle Watling's place in "Gone With the Wind." I guess it is no surprise that Melania lives there.

(3,707 posts)There's a big difference between "real" baroque and this fake stuff. It's obvious in the clash of design and purpose. The baroque had an over-the-top vibe that we might find cluttered today, but it harmonized.
This is just throwing everything shiny together whether it fits or not. And every.single.room.

(10,478 posts)about home decor or various styles, but I agree with your take. I happen to like baroque, but this ain't it. I couldn't say why, but I think you hit it.

(7,367 posts)Hearst decorated his house with museum pieces from his collection. This is just...a cheap knock off with no sense of history or taste. It's "tell me how much of tasteless trust fund kid you are without telling me".

(2,793 posts)Who could possibly think that decor is beautiful? It is way too ostentatious, a monument to bad taste.

(3,137 posts)I have to say, though, it isn't as tacky as Ivana's townhouse. Close, but not quite. I saw pictures of it online when it was for sale (I dont know if it still is) and yikes!

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
