(467 posts)it would be, and I know Im not alone in that.
One thing I need to do is to cut toxic people (Trump supporters) out of my life. Not easy when its close family, but I can certainly do it with old friends, people Ive known for 30 and 40 years in a couple of cases. I just cant take their alternate reality version of things anymore. I keep asking myself: If I just met this person, would I want to be friends with them? Sorry, ranting here

(12,189 posts)They know I am who I am, and I know they are who they are. We made a pact to not discuss politics in each other's presence out of true familial love. We agreed that life is too damn short now (as we are all getting older) and that our love is stronger than politics. We've seen politics tear families apart and have vowed not to let that happen to us. Now. With family members who won't go along with this? If they start in, I just leave. Period. I will not tolerate it. The visit ends at that point. And now that Trump is tearing the country apart, their life will be affected and I expect them to stop cramming their sick politics down my throat. They may or may not apologize for being so wrong, but I will never say "I told you so."

(24,486 posts)We've lost the trust and faith of so many of our allies and trading partners in the world because even after Trump they can't trust the American people to not vote in another one.
Fortunately, as an old duffer I shouldn't have many more 4 year blocks left to live.
Unfortunately, as far as that goes, I am in very good health with no aches and pains.
Will we get to the point here where the living will envy the dead?
Irish_Dem
(81,266 posts)Yes our allies and the world know longer trust the US.
They don't trust the American voters.
They also don't trust US leaders, congress, courts, etc.
And democracy in general looks like a failed form of govt.
The checks and balances don't work.
In addition Americans no longer trust their govt to look out for them.
Or to uphold our values. Our leaders have failed us.

(55,137 posts)I'm not an idiot and I am fully aware of what is happening in the US. Even when I did not watch the news for 6 months I kept losing weight.
It is tRump stress! My primary doctor isn't concerned since he is a Dem and he knows how our physical bodies react to anxiety. I told him in Aug that "at this rate I'll disappear by the inauguration".
Subconsciously, my mind is 100% aware of the current hell and future hell in the USA.
I bet the number of suicides will increase in the next 4 years.

OK, you're a Big Man, Pig Man, and you weigh 81 lbs? Wow! I want to lose 12 lbs, how many months away from the news do you prescribe? And we're both in San Diego, so the weather shouldn't be a factor.
BigmanPigman
(55,137 posts)and I was watching the news. In July I stopped watching it completely and continued to drop more and more weight. So far that is a total of 15 pounds (96 down to 81). I'm 5'1 1/2 " and I have a small frame. My family keeps telling me I look like shit. I sent them an email a few days ago stating that I do NOT want to hear how I look awful, I have eyes! My sister even had the nerve to think I was dieting and lying. I have gained 3 pounds back by tripling my calories since Jan. I lost weight before but it was due to not having an accurate diagnosis by a bad Prim Care doctor of Mono for 6 months when I was 44 and working every at my job teaching. I was pooped out and 86 pounds. Also, if someone dies I usually drop weight, especially when it is my dogs.
Silver lining.....I can fit into very small places now like trying to clean behind a piece of furniture. I have a ton more energy and I can fit into ALL of my clothes that I've saved since high school from 1978. I was trained in fashion in art school so I like clothes that are off beat.
tRump is killing us physically, mentally, financially and emotionally and he LOVES IT! He is a true SADIST! We are screwed. A crazy, psychopathic greedy sadistic narcissist. My, my, what could go wrong?
Weight loss plan...watch tRump on TV, get Mono for 6 months, and watch your dad and dogs die. That'll do the trick.

(12,189 posts)take care of yourself. Drink a milkshake or two every day. Drink 30 gr protein shakes if you're not getting enough protein. Do you take a good multi-vitamin every day? How about Vitamin B-12? Please. We can't make it around here without you!

(2,956 posts)more time on the treadmill. It's totally due to lack of motivation, as I've dropped weight in the past by reducing calories by 300-400 per day plus getting more exercise. I know it isn't true for everyone, but the formula of 3500 calories = 1 lb. works pretty good for me.

(9,212 posts)considering psycho murdered my father along with the hospital and others. I am not sure if I will make it through that long. I have to stay here for my cats who need me etc. The stress is unbearable though. As much as I try to focus on other things, there are too many stressful things I am dealing with now due to all of this and you simply can't block it all out. There is always that fear of what has happened now that I may not know yet because I mostly don't watch any news and get my news from reading online and some videos.

(12,189 posts)It's inexpensive. I escape everything by going there and watching series like "Vera" and "Crackers" "Father Brown". There's a gazillion series there that will steal your mind away from all your worries. If you can't afford it, then try TubiTV or Pluto, which are totally free.

The main think is the break yourself of the habit of compulsive news watching. You can get the basics in 20 minutes or so a day, any more than that is counterproductive and does nasty things to your blood pressure.
Compulsive news watching with this bunch of witless assholes in charge will shove you into an early grave.

But I want to be strong. I want to be tougher than they are, so I'm going to do my very best to try to make it through. I see it as the ultimate revenge to the orange asshole's desire to kill all of us off.
Wish me luck...

The rule of law had better take control, and real soon. Trump has set himself up to actually think he is a God and that the Supreme Court is in his hip pocket. But again, the rule of law had better corral his ass in and get this idiocy under control. We cannot have this guy going around breaking every law and then ignoring corrective actions by the law. This aggression towards our democracy will not stand.

I envy the little girl who lives next door who just turned 3 and her blissful ignorance of what is happening to America is envious. The same goes for my cat or the wild animals who feed in my yard.
I find myself taking refuge in YouTube shorts which far more often than not are happy and I can get lost in them. At night I can listen to favorite audiobooks and fall asleep to them. Anything for an escape.
