Those poor losers (white, racist southern sympathizers) who barely put up with some level of accommodation and were driven to fury by seeing someone "other" that was competent and successful.

Of course the "driven to fury" was highly abetted by forces that hated any form of liberalism and hated democracy for all.

I spent watching the inauguration with my Mom. We were both crying, at the line we had finally crossed, and the hope for a better future. Mom lived thru the 1st trump mis-administration, and bitched about it the whole time with me. During one of those old age mental tests they do, they asked her was the current president of the U.S. Without missing a beat, she said "that goddamn evil idiot, trump." Mom died just before he was seated again. I always will wonder if she did it on purpose. She hated trump with such a passion, and (like me now) lost her will to live under his evil once again.

but the bar for the US being a better country is very low now.

10. Wonderful! l have a great little story Re this NYT's edition...

I was at MSNBC's Election Watch at Rockefeller Center that night. They had the projected USA map on the ice rink that would color blue and red accordingly after a solid projection. They had big ribbons going up the RC to reach, go past the magic 270 EC number. The MSNBC crew were broadcasting in a big plastic box.

After we all cheered, and watch the Obama's smile, and wave, and Barrack give his speech I wandered I think towards the subway, or I deliberately headed towards Times Sq to see more coverage on the big screen. It was such a heady feeling I just didn't quite want to go home yet, and be with elated voters.

I get there, and eventually I see someone with that NYT's paper, and headline. Wow. I walk over to the NYT building.
I was able get one as bunches, and bunches all tied together were being ready to be loaded into trucks.

12. The only thing that will have me doing a happier happy dance

is when those headlines scream: Trump escorted out of the White House (or MAL) by Federal Marshalls. Trial to begin in X days for treason, on penalty of death. Then I'll REALLY dance this old body crazy!

15. One of my day dreams is...

Bc I go to bed waaaay late, and I live in a nice assisted living place I usually sleep between breakfast and lunch.

So I'm very friendly w a bunch of my neighbors on my side of the hallway.
M daydream is
That I'm woken up by a lot of commotion in the hallway. I go and stick my head out the door. Several of them have gathered and they tell me drumphf is (either) dead, suddenly in jail, hauled outta the WH etc

I, of course, go and join them in *celebration *! 🎉

As they say - a girl can dream can't she?!👍

The newspaper headline says "HEAVY TURNOUT" which if we had last year for Harris, she could have won. Along with the defeat of Hillary, perhaps it goes to show that we will elect a Black male, but not a woman as our president.
