He would have been fighting tooth and nail every single day.
At the very least, he wouldn't have worn pink; held up a little sign; and sung "We Shall Overcome" (or whatever it was they sang) in opposition.

(8,144 posts)I will NEVER forgive her or the Democratic Party for turning on Al.
Republicans have done so many worse and they are still in office.

She's not perfect on sexual harassment as her poor handling of an aide who sexually harassed others and didn't get fired shows, but she's absolutely been in that fight for her entire Senate career.

(3,151 posts)I check his website frequently and receive e-mails from it. I guess I should change the title of my original post.
Biophilic
(6,685 posts)I think several of these posts were disruptors or just being smart asses. I have the same feelings as you and think that we lost an important man when they forced him to retire
Im still a bit angry about the whole thing.

(36,358 posts)He should be on there for sure. I miss my Senator too.
I always felt so bad for him....when the Senate was in session, id watch on C-SPAN and he was always walking around kinda by himself. I kinda thought his fellow Senators didnt really approve of him because he was on SNL. I think they all treated him badly. JMHO. and who did come to his defense?? His fellow State Senator didnt even stand by him. Never forgave Amy for that either. 😡 😡 😡

(5,888 posts)And Wellstone died way before his time.
I was able to personally thank him for his brave stands on the issues.
Needless to say, he stood alone quite often.
He died not too long after I met him, travelling to DC on a flight.
But Al Franken should never have been sidelined ever, and for what? Something about decorum or something he said off the cuff I can't remember it was so petty.
Intractable
(2,394 posts)I think Chuck did, and that's one of the reasons Franken is gone.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
