I cannot stop thinking of the fear in the eyes of Lisa Murkowski...

It was real. And she said as much. She fears retaliation.

It is easy to hate some of these people for their cowardice and treasonous loyalty to this malevolent dictator now in charge of our government. But Lisa Murkowski has shown courage in some of her votes, for example, she voted against Hegseth for Defense Secretary, and she voted to convict Donald Trump in his impeachment trial. But she has had some terrible votes also.

But, the point is that many Republicans are afraid to speak out against Donald Trump. They have no where to go. Some of these folks need a lifeline. They are desperate.

In my opinion, the Democrats should offer to work with those Republicans that are willing to work in a coalition to preserve our democracy. This is no time for purity in politics. This is not the time to be afraid of a few conservatives that think differently than us.

We should offer the opportunity to caucus with the Democratic Party, even if they vote totally different from the Party, on most issues. They can be part of the Independent caucus, along with Angus King of Maine. They do not have to stay where they are at present. They need to make a change.

In my opinion, the Democratic Party should assist them as much as possible without requiring a litmus test of any sort. I cannot escape the fear exhibited by Lisa Murkowski.

We should be able to work together as a coalition to defeat this scourge that we now face. Just my opinion.

I don't mean to be defending Murkowski so much but we can't hold everyone to the Bernie standard to accept whatever help they can offer. When the Republicans come around, if they do, it will be timidly, late, and never enough to make up for the damage they have done in getting us here. Yet, we need them, any that we can get, and we need to recognize their courage when they do. We only need a few to turn this thing around. If a handful of Republicans do this, it can save democracy but they'll have crosshairs on their backs.

Sat Apr 19, 2025, 12:11 AM
Apr 2025

She's bringing buckets of guts to her job. As for the look in her eyes, I've seen that look before, sometimes in the mirror. It's the look of someone who recognizes the bully, the abuser -- and trump sure as hell has a long history of threatening and bullying women. There is nothing in the congressional job description that compels her to be braver than her male colleagues in dealing with the bully who happens to hold the presidency, and suggesting that she's wimping out is every bit as offensive as the bullying to which she's reacting. And being the abusive bully that he is, you can be sure that trump revels in the knowledge that members of congress, especially the women, are afraid of him as a person.

I've not often agreed with her votes, but have appreciated when she's stepped across the party line to support good measures. That she's speaking up IN SPITE OF HER FEAR speaks volumes about the strength of character that keeps her in the fight, a character attribute not exhibited in her quivering male counterparts. I'll not join in condemning her.

just anti-violence. They are unarmed, so not like the militias. They're described as trained and encouraging diversity. Actually, their wiki page is pretty interesting and now there are Cyber Angels too.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guardian_Angels

The organization accepts volunteers who have no recent or serious criminal record and are not members of a gang or racial-hate group. To join the safety patrol program, members must be at least 16 years old; youth programs for younger applicants are offered. Safety Patrol members are prohibited from carrying weapons and are physically searched by each other before patrolling. They are trained in first aid, CPR, law, conflict resolution, communication, and basic martial arts. Members are paired up and follow the directions of a patrol leader. If their own or other citizens' lives or health are endangered, they are allowed to do whatever is lawful and necessary.

The Guardian Angels have also begun to include youth programs, teacher programs, disaster response, an Internet safety program called the CyberAngels, and self-defense courses, as well as community outreach program to address issues beyond crime.

You have to be a hero to stand up to this kind of threat. Few people will actually do it, and Republicans don't have a record of being profiles in courage when the stakes are much lower.

We are being run by Brownshirts and Mafia style threats.

Republicans need more than an offer of a coalition. They need security details and for things to get bad enough that they sleep even worse if they don't do something. I don't know what it would take.

But it would help if there wasn't also a risk of being sent to a foreign gulag if you displease the dear leader.

Maybe you haven't felt the change that is happening in the world in the last ten years? It's different than it used to be because the entire stage is now different worldwide... The majority of the voters in this worldwide political climate are looking for a rowdy upsetter, someone they view as fearless...An asshole even.

Otherwise come 2026 it's going to be "I could have, I should have" while we watch either no election taking place or one in which the suppression is off the charts and there will be major efforts to overturn results that are unfavorable to the fascists.

Now? I wonder if she has been threatened. You will remain will not retire and you will toe the line.

Oddly? Any Republican standing up … it will be more difficult than any democrat

Or thats how I am looking at it.

And if she retires she doesn’t have the security detail.

This man is a scourge on humanity!

With that, she can step up and switch parties, or flip to Ind. and caucus with the Dems.

If there are House members willing, the same, but I can’t think of any with courage.

They literally have days to do the right thing. You going to be a chicken shit Nazi in 1933 or be a Patriot?

Seems like a very easy choice, but I’m not a gutless Repub.

She told the truth. That takes courage in this administration - especially when your colleagues stay silent. I think we’re way past the fear of being primaried. She and her family undoubtedly have been physically threatened, and we know what they’re capable of. I wish that some male Republicans would show bravery when it counts. Anyone who speaks up should be given security, although I’m sure TSF would not approve it..

COME ON OVER, LISA! Have you considered joining the good guys? Might be a nice change for ya, girlfriend! It's always refreshing and reinvigorating to consider new things! A change of "scenery" can be the breath of fresh air you've been yearning for, deep-down.

New people! New friends! New ways of looking at things! New ideas! New approaches! New solutions! And as the old saying attributed to a big Irish family once put it: "there's always room for one more!"

Consider it, Lisa! The water's warm. And we don't bite!

It's all talk until she does something about it........She and all the rest of the Republicans have literally created this frankenstein's monster, and now they have lost control of it, but until they come out as changing to at least an independent, and even better a dem, it is ludicrous to even listen to them.....Talk is cheap..........They had their opportunity, when they knew Trump was a psychopath narcissist, not once but twice to Impeach him........They watched the Insurrection that HE led, what his seditionists all did, and they still backed him 100% on every vote, and still are to this day. The Republican Senate is the most complicit, they could have done something on day one of his first term, or any day, or week, or month or YEAR for four long insane years. And they did nothing. Period.

The U.S. Republican Senators, the U.S. Republican House Members, and the Republican Justices on the Supreme Court are so stupid, that they haven't even thought that in a Tyranny/Dictatorship, there is of no use for the Legislative Branch or Judicial Branch in the U.S. any longer...........
He has cast aside anyone and everything his entire life, once they outgrow their usefulness to him. Look at all devotee Trumphumpers he has already cast aside. Now he is even throwing his voters under the bus, thinking we all are past the last LEGITIMATE election, and they are no longer needed.....

In the future Tyranny/Dictatorship, the U.S. House Members. The U.S. Senators, and the U. S. Supreme Court Justices are so short sighted and stupid, they are yet to realize, there will be NO need for a LEGISLATIVE BRANCH OR JUDICIAL BRANCH AND THEY ALL WILL BE KICKED TO THE CURB AND ROLLED UNDER A BUS.........

He already is turning against his voters more each day, realizing that he no longer needs them, as legitimate elections are a thing of the past..........

possible, including your life.

Many, many of us will likely be dying over the next few years. We took no oath except the Pledge of Allegiance. And yet, the billionaire parasites are descending like locusts on the treasury and stealing all they can.

These Medicaid cuts? $800 billion? Do you have any idea how many old people who have been living in memory facilities will end up HOMELESS, not even knowing where they are? How many businesses will go belly up? How many people will get rounded up and possibly SHOT???????

Lisa, I'm sorry, but you in Congress are so completely devoid of any spine, I'm thinking you ought to be circling the drain just like all the millions of others.

The only people who seem to have any cajones are Sanders, AOC, Crockett, and other progressives.

Because - to Schumer if any of his staffers are on here - strongly worded letters aren't hacking it. You may have to risk your lives to preserve this republic. If it is worth living for, then maybe it is worth dying for, you think?

75. The Anchorage Daily News article is misleading
Sat Apr 19, 2025, 04:47 PM
Apr 2025

The Anchorage Daily News did her a real disservice with their reporting, and most of the other outlets sharing the story lazily didn't bother to look beyond the Anchorage Daily News article.

Here are some more of her comments from that event. Rolling Stone to the rescue.

“We are all afraid" she said.

After a long pause, she continued:

“It’s quite a statement. But we are in a time and a place where I certainly have not been before. And I’ll tell ya, I’m oftentimes very anxious myself about using my voice, because retaliation is real. And that’s not right. But that’s what you’ve asked me to do. And so I’m going to use my voice to the best of my ability. I’ve got to figure out how I can do my best to help the many who are so anxious and are so afraid."

“Keep calling. Keep the emails. Keep the social media going. It’s important that the concerns continue to be raised, rather than allow the fatigue of the chaos grind you down, don’t let it grind you down.”

“It is head spinning,” she said of Trump’s second term. “It seems that just when you’ve made a little bit of progress on one issue that had caused so much anxiety, there’s another one.”

“That’s why you’ve got everybody just zip-lipped, not saying a word, because they’re afraid they’re going to be taken down — they’re going to be primaried, they’re going to be given names in the media. We cannot be cowed into not speaking up.”

“It may be that Elon Musk decides that he’s going to take the next billion dollars he makes off Starlink and put it directly against Lisa Murkowksi. And you know what? That may happen. But I’m not giving up one minute, one opportunity to try to stand up for Alaska.”

“Sometimes it’s easy, particularly when things are so turbulent and really very, very chaotic right now, you want to be able to blame somebody else, but we cannot. Congress has ownership in this, and this is where I say it’s sitting down with our colleagues to say, ‘We have a role here too.’ We just can’t say, ‘Well, we’ll let the courts sort it out.’ We’ve got to step it up.”
