"Blank Sailings" 50% higher in April than all of May 2020

Interesting shipping container stats fortells what's to come?

Basically Blank Sails are cancelled cargo shipments to the US ports and they're 50% higher in April than all of May 2020.

That doesn't sound good AT ALL ... don't have historic reference to see if numbers this high are cyclical or not

2. Someone from a trucking company explains why prices for fruit might go up

Basically, they might be sending trucks on two way trips with one empty leg because of tariffs. They will be able to ship out friuit but return empty because of no Chinese products.

were said to use the World Container Index and the Freight Transportation Services Index as leading indicators of an imminent recession. Also the Baltic Dry Index, which should be rising this time of year has just fallen off a cliff.

11. What I remember about 2020 was that stuff came into ports in the US

... and they couldn't unload the containers fast enough. Ships were backed up for weeks because they couldn't unload. Then everything sat in storage at the ports because there was a shortage of long-haul truck drivers to deliver the containers to their destinations.

I remember that it took almost a year to get those shipping containers (many from China, but also other countries) moved to where they needed to go. We didn't have enough truck drivers, due to Covid, and also there were work stoppages. Some trucking companies went out of business, and I don't know what all.

2020 was the year the store shelves were empty of paper towels and toilet paper. 'Memba that?
