But Trump’s tariff taxes do nothing to support those decimated in the manufacturing sector. The money is not being used to help build factories. Trump is using tariff revenues as a substitute for income tax revenue, as he basically destroys the IRS. So this is much dumber, and more destructive, than Smoot-Hawley.
