Or has he been talked out of it (for now)?
I am truly getting nervous. ....

(68,478 posts)But it's kinda bad karma to wish that on someone. I was thinking that he would actually TRY, start making plans and then have another round of resignations, leaving him with only the most zealous staffers and no one to talk him out of anything. We might get into a dicier situation than we are now.

(9,236 posts)Perhaps he's starting to fear he may outlive his present term and be facing the jail time he so richly earned?

(13,483 posts)stay beyond his term. I don't trust this Congress to do anything as long as the Rs are in the majority.

(1,117 posts)He's living in a world of his own. You can't judge what he'll do based on laws or common sense. It's only a matter of how those around him and the world at large will respond.
No, he won't have a third term. He won't have a legal campaign or get on the ballot. And then he'll whine and bitch and try to start another civil war about it. He'll try to lock the White House doors and just not leave. He suggested that last time.
I really hope he strokes out before 2026. He's nuts and we've been through enough.

(1,107 posts)There is no way he is going to cede power without attempting to circumvent the Constitution. He looks at how Putin came to power and he wants to follow his path.
If he can't achieve it directly he will do it indirectly. For example, he has a crony like Vance run and win (unlikely but possible). Vance then hands over power to Trump either officially or unofficially, just like Trump handed power to Musk.
