and wearing a Rolex? Granted, she's doubled her salary since becoming Sec of Homeland Security, and she has SS with her. However, any American traveling to Paris will say their top concern is pick pockets and they guard against it, justified or not.
If DC is so "crime ridden," why does Kristi make herself such a target? Is she really just all about image and other Eva Braun bullshit, trying to improve her hick demeanor for her Master?
She took her family to a burger joint. She needs $3,000 for, say, 10 orders of burgers/fries at $15/each?
If DC is so "crime ridden," according to Noem herself, why is she setting herself up, and the country, as an obvious target?
Could it be, she's really THAT much out of her league, too self-possessed to comprehend the importance of her job description? She can't even secure her own valuables, let alone keep the homeland safe. I recommend getting rid of HLS. It's a waste of money.

Meanwhile, the country took a pass on Clinton and Harris, two uniquely qualified women, to get this "thing." Trump missed the Barbie memo.

(3,667 posts)It's possible she just randomly decided to carry $3,000 cash in pocket-money around with her that morning.
Or, it's also possible, that this big wad of cash was a payoff or bribe that got slipped to her earlier in day, and she just hadn't gotten home to unload it yet.
Just sayin'.

(1,148 posts)...in large bills, no less, in a "crime infested" city, in a $4,400 bag while wearing a Rolex? Most Europe cities have gone plastic. London is one of them.
Maybe having large sums of cash is part of her artifice, like stilettos are supposed to be? She may as well revamp Melania's infamous jacket to say, "Rob me."

(638 posts)When she has $25k in plastic and rubber facial work and God only knows what else is rubber and plastic on her body, carrying around a $4k bag makes perfect sense.
I guess.

(1,835 posts)it was $3,000. Really who carries around that amount of cash? Probably paying for something that is not legal and wants no one to be able to trace the payment????

I am surprised she was without a gun. Lots of free roaming dogs out there these days.
The party of the working class. Billionaires and Millionaires. All fighting for us commoners.
And tax payers are footing the bill of all her costumes and those accessories.

It wasn't the cash they were after. The ID badge.
Some posts here stated the there was another purse snatching in the area a few days prior. I just watched a true crime where the killer broke into a few homes in the neighborhood prior to the murder. Then he broke into his own home, the same way to kill his wife.

(4,176 posts)My wife and daughter both commented I would never set my purse on the floor anywhere, especially not a restaurant what with grease, food spills, dirt tracked in. And thats just asking for someone to snitch it.
DC police investigate thefts of large amounts of cash because they figure anyone carrying 3 large is probably making a drug deal.
As for the $50,000 Rolex - I wear an original Rolex GMT Master, purchased at the Bien HOA, Vietnam, military exchange in 1970 on my way home from a year in the bush - $196.00. I ship it back to Rolex USA every 8 years for cleaning and adjustment and they tell me to insure it for $15,000!!

(51,559 posts)Everything about this story sounds suspicious. That was a brazen theft in front of plenty of people and secret service and security cameras. Nobody noticed anything?
Purse snatching sounds kind of old timey. One doesn't hear much of that in the news these days. We do hear a lot about carjackings and shoplifting.
So I'm pretty skeptical about this story.

(1,831 posts)Heard yesterday Barbies bag was on the floor underneath her chair. The person who stole it was seated behind her at another table and used his foot to drag it over to him.
Handbag on the floor. Ladies - how many of you put your purse on a restaurant floor while dining?
That is so gross! When I am in a restaurant I
Place my purse on an empty seat near me;
Hang it on the back of my chair; or
Use the handbag hook my granddaughter gave me for Christmas. The hook hangs from the table.
Under no circumstances would I ever put my purse on the floor.
