He also recommends calling your representatives about this and sounding the alarm. As we have unfortunately seen in the past few months, the leadership not only responds to phone calls, but seems to need them before they react with urgency.

(4,744 posts)I'm getting a bit tired of randos on social media advising and warning and admonishing Democratic members of Congress of anything.
It's insulting and inciting.

Aaron Rupar, the other name in the article is apparently an "Independent journalist and publisher of the Public Notice newsletter." Another bright light in the information industry I suppose.
OK, guys, thanks for the advice. I'm sure Democratic legislators have been waiting to hear from you...

That doesn't really seem to me like it's out of line.

I keep up communications, though.
See, I thought that everyone knew that it is good to let your elected officials know what you think. Doesn't everyone do that? If not, they should.
You may have missed my point, somehow.

(6,991 posts)I'm genuinely surprised that it would arouse anyone's ire to see that someone has said online that elected reps should act decisively on a certain issue, and has urged others to contact the reps with their concerns.
I'm sorry if I seem obtuse, but no, I really don't understand.

I post things like that all the time here and elsewhere. It's hardly remarkable, apparently.

(6,991 posts)I seldom miss an opportunity on DU to ask who the hell cares what James Carville has to say. Looks to me like your post was in a similar vein.

(151,557 posts)Just having a blog or newsletter or something like that on the Internet is easy. I could start one today on substack. And nobody would know who the heck I was either. So I don't do that.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
