Why I hate the Czech Easter tradition (warning, disgusting)

This is insane, warning this should anger people. It shows who religion is being used to justify beating women.

I really stood out, t-shirt/jeans, during my 5 weeks "v Praze".

Next video ...

Indian-American students showing how daily they show up in "ethnic" clothing daily ...

Irish-American male students show up to battle for high grades wearing a torc ... And nothing more, except sandals ... Imagine the Pogues ... In ... Um ... Just ... um ... a [link:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torc#/media/File:Torque_%C3%A0_tampons_Somme-Suippe_Mus%C3%A9e_Saint-Remi_120208.jpg].

Oh, and to preserve modesty, the torc was worn around the man's neck.

Look, the influencer in question wants profit. That means outrage. I only saw this garb during my months in Brno/Prague during "ethnic identity" kinds of things. Hint--this isn't daily garb. (For those with 504s, or EBs with ling accommodations, garb = "A distinctive style or form of clothing; dress".)

I mean, I watched a movie centered on a traditional zabijacka. Pig killing. One day. Kill pig. End of day? Skin set to "cure", workers paid in pork, intestines ready to be stuffed, sausages set to cure/be smoked, other parts boiling. Hog --> food, less than 12 hours.

In another, a kid, maybe 7, 8, took some copper to buy a pitcher of beer. That's tradition. When I was there, many months, pre-EU accession, there was no "legal drinking age." That, BTW. was "indigenous knowledge."

Yet neither are true of the typical office-worker Praguer in 2025.

An influencer finds it profitable to "Other" her indigenous culture for profit? You don't need to invest in her trust fund.

Yes, this probably happens in backwaters. Or as an example of "put on" ethnicity. Actual abuse? Um ... Call the cops --- or not---the choice is the girl's/young woman's.

condemn U.S. journalists, commentators and artists for pointing out sick areas in American culture? Well, the Right does, but we don't have to.

and a bunch of frat boys imitating it, to say nothing of the proud boys.

if there is anything to ,earn from American politics, it is that every time you think :no one would be THAT stupid, you can rest assured there is someone that stupid.

When I say that misogyny is millennia old, as olg as the human race itself, I'm not joking or exaggerating or overreacting.

There's a very old - pre-Homeric - myth of the vagina dentata. In other words, teeth inside the vagina. Teeth that will bite some of a man off if he isn't careful. You can find a remnant of it in the Odyssey when Odysseus overcomes Circe - he makes her swear not to hurt him before he rapes her.

(Now that I think of it, this myth may explain why the premise of Lysistrata was successful at the time. I doubt that it would work today.)

in a Polish neighborhood in the 1950s and 60s. I had heard of Dyngus day, but as an anachronism. It seems to have popped up in a big way in the 90s. as you point out, and I can't imagine why. Well, yes I can - misogyny.

Of going out with a friend from a Polish American family in Cheektowaga on Dyngus day in 1993.

Never again. They wouldn't leave my black bi-racial ass alone. I think it's because I was dating a Buffalo Bill, so they thought they were getting one over on him.

I reserve the right to alter my opinion, but this how I feel right now....

"An influencer finds it profitable to "Other" her indigenous culture for profit? You don't need to invest in her trust fund"

To "Other" her indigenous culture?
What if her indigenous culture sucks!!!!
Abusing girls, including sometimes rape?

She's Czech...and an artist. She has the right to criticize the continuing practice in the rural areas, and bring attention to it to a wider audience. She lived this experience, too! Artists often draw from their own experiences.

Doesn't bother me if she gets money for her effort. "Trust fund", oh give me relief!
Are you a Creative? Do you have Craatives in your family, friend circles?
You have any idea how difficult it can be, especially if one doesn't have connections, or doesn't gets a lucky break here, and there.

And besides all that; it's a good piece of art.
