(24,118 posts)Now if those containers are put on trucks and cross into the US, then yes, tariffs would be applied. But if the merchandise remains in Canada, why would the importer be charged US tariffs?

Evading tariffs is just as old as tariffs.
Hell, you could say our country was founding on evading tariffs.

(24,118 posts)Although the tourists will still risk being hit with tariffs, duties and taxes, depending on the value of purchases and the time out of the US.
But if the anticipated shortages materialize, it may be the only way to get certain products (such as the new Nintendo Switch 2 console).

What is the typical number, say from this time last year?
We shall see in the coming months just how much traffic is diverted from Seattle to Vancouver.
