As a party, we are prisoners being held hostage by people who simply refuse to accept that their time has passed and wont accept that others more capable right now. Stay in the Senate, but step down from leadership. Its time for a new approach, a new face, & a new voice.

(6,670 posts)They aren't paying attention. They aren't listening. That's not Schummer's fault. It will take time for the facts, truth and reality to sink-in.
It's the world we live in.

(8,815 posts)trump is in the news every minute of the day. I'm sorry but stop making excuses. The country sees Democrats lying down while the only Democrats fighting in public draw fire. Fucking hell. Schumer is as pointless as Rubio.

(6,670 posts)I'm also telling it like it is when I remind you that shitting on Democrats and comparing them to Republicans is not helping. Rhetoric like that only serves to divide and weaken. It's akin to the BS line of "both parties are the same". There are better and more productive ways for people to respond... attacking Democrats isn't one of those ways.

(6,670 posts)What meaningful and effective actions would you propose instead? It's easy to mock Schumer for sending 'stern letters' and label Democrats as ineffective or weak. However, amidst the insults and accusations, there's a striking absence of alternative solutions being put forward.
Should Schumer start shouting and flailing his arms during speeches? Or maybe stomp his feet for added 'urgency'? Perhaps a finger-wagging and lectern-pounding routine would finally make Republicans take notice and change their ways.
Rather than continually denigrating Democrats and our leadership, wouldn't it be better to elevate the conversation beyond ridicule and theatrics? That would also be better than entertaining some fantasy that if the Democrats were just stubborn enough, they could bully the GOP indo giving up their majority and all the advantages that come with being the majority. I'm sorry to be the one to break it to everyone, but that's just not going to happen. So now what?
Fact is, we are now the minority party. It's a horrible place to be. I'm not happy with it either, but that's reality. So instead of continually shitting on the party and our leadership, I challenge the Schumer-haters and Jeffries-haters to instead offer concrete and constructive ideas that could lead to actual progress. Critique is easy; solutions are what truly move us forward.

It's a little thing called having courage.

(6,670 posts)I'm sure you're aware that the South Korean government is structured differently from the United States government in terms of its legislative branch. While the United States has a bicameral legislature consisting of the House of Representatives and the Senate, South Korea has a unicameral legislature known as the National Assembly.
Is the DP party in South Korea actually the "minority" party? Every indication is that they were not. And considering the differences in how our two governments operate and function, what specifically do you think could be effectively duplicated here?
Here in the US (and especially as a minority party for our form of government) we lack the ability to call for snap elections or to have no-confidence votes or to use other parliamentary inquiries. Even an impeachment inquiry would fall flat if the house leader refuses to bring it to the floor for a vote.
It's a mistake to shit on Democrats by insinuating that they are cowards or that they lack "courage"... but, please elaborate on your views regarding how it is that "courage" will force the house majority leader to cooperate with Democrats. --- I'm all ears.

(8,815 posts)We are asking them to get in front of people in their towns and make the steadfast Democratic argument. Not from podiums in Washington relying upon MSM for coverage. More Murphy, AOC, and Pritzker actions. Less Newsom and Fetterman. THAT type of high-level undermining of Democratic motive hurts more than disgruntled voters who see a disassociated demeanor from leadership.
Leadership needs to send active energetic members to rally around Blue Dot members in public, while the GOPs neglect and dodge citizen inquiry. And Leadership needs to get their committee members to disrupt within their own districts. This isn't complex.
And Leadership needs to get on board with the insider trading bill. That should have UNANIMOUS Democratic support.
And every Dem should be talking about due process.
Schumer and Jefferies don't need to shout and flail, they need to charge and damn the torpedoes. The Whitehouse is full of racist schoolroom punks.
What the fuck.

Its probably not a coincidence that my content is breaking through and more people are listening to me at a time when Im not getting up every day thinking about my personal political future, said Murphy, who was reelected to the Senate last year. Theres not going to be an election in 2028 if we dont win this fight right now.

Trumps cashing poll numbers are entirely self-inflicted.
Bernie and the other "fighters" are all just writing strongly worded letters. The only difference is they are reading them on a stage.

(32,321 posts)is to do town halls, or do what Bernie and AOC are doing.
It will be up to the people to throw out the billionaires and what Bernie and AOC are doing is listening to the people, letting the people know what Krasnov is doing to them.
There is a reason that Magat leadership told its members not do town halls. They want to keep the people in the dark about what is happening.
Schumer laid out his strategy on Chris Haye's show. Schumer flat out said that he wants Krasnov to burn it all down and then Democrats will win the next election. What Bernie and AOC are doing is trying to put out the fires.
Magats control the narrative because they speak with unified messages and repeat them over and over again.
It was Schumer who divided the party when he kneecapped House Democrats who were unified against passing the CR.
