I love that they are doing it. But here's the skinny. The ones showing up leave and are never heard from again in that district. Why the hell aren't they showing up and bringing along a candidate that is going to run against the repuke in that district in 26. This is the type of disorganization that is killing us. I dont care if it's a ruby red district that say Chris Murphy does a town hall in because a chickenshit repuke won't. Bring a candidate on stage with him, put a body up there that can even moderately speak, introduce the person to the crowd and let them also speak about our agenda and how bad they are getting lied to and screwed. After the established Democrat leaves the person that will be running for that office will have an instant platform and head start. The money spent to get that rep into and setup the town hall will be a 2 for one. I don't get it. Right now our reps show up, the press brags about it, then it's over and trust me with attention spans of minutes rampant across the populace, especially in red districts, that visit is quickly forgotten. Are we waiting until the last minute to put up candidates? WTF?
We are missing a huge chance here to introduce candidates to the public using our established reps and Senators as the initial draw. Leadership in this party needs to get their shit together fast. I'm hot as hell over this complete waste of time. It doesn't work if you pack up and leave an empty tent.

(3,719 posts)There have been a couple of "brawlers" that would've taken her out IMO but my local party is run like a high school popularity contest, no teeth. We need candidates that are ready to literally fight. To get into the proverbial face of these repukes and take them out. Too many wishy washy candidates that are intimidated by the MAGA machine. There's nothing to fear, those people are typical bullies, they are paper thin and if you get in their face they crumble like a wilted weed. I know, I do it to them all the time. I've been doing it to people like that all my life.
Just my personal opinion of course but no more mister nice guy as far as I'm concerned. Damn the Torpedo's as they say.

(6,670 posts)Strategic Timing: Parties may strategically time their candidate announcements to maximize media coverage and momentum leading up to the election. Waiting until closer to the election can help ensure that the candidate remains fresh in voters' minds.
Resource Allocation: Running a campaign is resource-intensive. By waiting to announce a candidate, parties can focus their resources on fewer candidates at a time, allowing them to allocate funds and support more effectively.
Candidate Visibility: Introducing a candidate too early can lead to candidate fatigue among voters. Waiting until the election cycle picks up can help ensure that the candidate's message is heard when it matters most.
Messaging: By waiting to announce a candidate, we can tailor our messaging to be more responsive to current events and issues that are salient to voters at the time of the election.
Running a perpetual campaign or an exceedingly early campaign definitely risks voter fatigue and a loss of interest in the electoral process. By strategically timing candidate announcements, the Democrats can ensure that their candidates have the best chance of success in the election.

(3,719 posts)And from the amount of people showing up at them voter fatigue doesn't seem to be an issue at the moment. My point was these town halls by known familiar names are perfect oppurtunities to introduce who will actually be running against the missing chickenshit repuke thereby at a minimum planting the seed in the voters minds. I'm perfectly aware you can't run a perpetual campaign. But you can strategically do occasional spot campaigning during the sparse times voter interest is at a maximum like when a major event such as a bad economic report comes out. People have no attention span anymore and we need to play the advertising game. Just like Jack Links bounces their Yeti around at a big Neckcar race. Nobody thinks about it a week later but a month later when they go to the store and see one they remember the Yeti. I feel like we're still running our elections like we we're 25 years ago. We gotta get with the times. Stuff moves at light speed now. We need to hit early and strategically when we can. All the points you make are correct but the timing of how it is done has changed. Waiting to do everything during the election cycle per se just doesn't work anymore IMO.
