In hindsight there is some merit in the argument that Biden should have chosen not to run before the primaries in '24, leaving it open for a new candidate to have been chosen rather than all of the ensuing drama of that summer.

That we hate all the Trump is and all that he does is what we believe with all of our hearts, but what will we say if Democrats do not make a strong showing in the midterms? Who will we blame?

At the risk of offending my fellow Democrats, the negative consequences haven’t yet hit the thoughtless and ill-informed Trump voters hard enough. Most of them are either still comfortable in their glass bubble (Like Ms. Jacques) or haven’t hurt hard enough or long enough to feel real pain.

If the USA was a parliamentary democracy with snap elections and a vote a few weeks away, I’d say that the Good Guys were screwed. However, while there are some elections this fall, most of the mid-terms aren’t until next year.

When the money runs out and they find themselves in grinding poverty or homelessness, they'll be more amenable to a re-think.

10. I looked at the article from the University of Mass. at Amherst.

An article published by the University of Massachusetts at Amherst reports the results of a poll taken by YouGov (I do not know what that entity is) in early April. I do not see where that UoM article mentions polling findings regarding what Harris voters would have done differently if they had the chance to do it all over. The article does mention that the polling results indicate that two percent of Trump voters regretted voting for him.

The writer of the USA opinion piece (quoted in the OP) mentions the aforesaid University of Massachusetts at Amherst article. However, as I stated, I do not see in the UoM article any discussion regarding regret by voters who cast their ballots for Harris.

ON EDIT: The UMass poll was in cooperation with YouGov which is the entity which communicated directly with the poll participants. A total of 1,081 voters responded to the polling questions. The methodology of the posters winnowed down the number of participants used in the tabulation process to 1,000. As far as I can understand, some buffering of the raw data was implemented in order to confirm the results to a broader, albeit theoretical, demographic matrix.

Turns out she LIED. (I know - surprise, surprise!). 11% of Trump voters disapprove of the job he's done so far. 2% answered not sure.

As for the regret question, 74% of Trump voters were very confident they made the right choice BUT 78% of Harris voters were very confident they made the right choice. She also ignores the 1% of Trump voters who have regrets and might vote differently today, and 4% who have mixed feelings. An 12% of non voters regret their not voting and would vote for Harris today. While it's not a surprise that most Trump voters don't regret their vote, they're nowhere near as positive about things as she tries to claim.

all that said, this was maybe the most positive poll for Trump over the past 3 weeks (and it had a very small sample). If this is the best they can do to try to prop up Trump, it shows just how pathetic the overall views of Trump are at this point.

Republicans only make up about 30% of the electorate. Polls show that Trump is severely underwater with independents who make up 40% of the electorate. Those are the people who regret voting for Trump.
