Friend in New England called me yesterday, and said the VA in her area is

a "shit show." She's a VA nurse practitioner and said they're having to turn patients away from packed waiting rooms every day. The staff has been cut in half, and all remaining are working overtime to see at least 50 patients/day. Surgeries have had to be canceled.

New staff scheduled to come on board have been diverted to other VA facilities or opted to take a private practice job.
Any people near retirement, among the most medically experienced, are gone. Even those who will receive just a portion of their pension have gone, too.

TSF said there would be a "little pain." Guess he and the DOGE goons didn't figure on how painful it can be to have your cancer surgery canceled after already surviving a months-long wait.

I spoke with him by text, and he tells me things are going well there for him and his patients. He encouraged me to come work for the VS, citing the benefits. I respect him tremendously, but there's no way I'm going to work for the VA, now or ever, certainly not with everything that's going on right now.

The agency that was running our org. got rid of us after cuts to mental health happened about seven years ago and they decided we were “too expensive” to keep, so for about a month we all had to wonder whether we were going to have jobs or not. Luckily, another agency picked us up. After I hear RFK talking about how they need to send people with mental illnesses to camps or farms or some others have the attitude - just throw them in jail (which already happens a lot). Then his talk about psychotropic medications - how they are dangerous and don’t work concerns me greatly. If you took away psychotropic meds from everyone, there would be chaos. Since I take some myself, it scares me even more. I can just picture the institutions they would put people in because it’s “cheaper” or “more effective.”

When a program that is reasonably successful they throw monkey wrenches into the work to reduce or eliminate it ability to serve. Then use this to eliminate the program.

Make it ineffective and those who were happy with the service they received will become disgruntled and turn against it. These gives the PTB more ammo.
