MAGA will eventually turn on Trump.

1928 election map:
Hoover got 40 states out of 48.
Al Smith got 8, and that despite the strong anti-Catholic sentiment at that time, his opposition to Prohibition, and his association with the legacy of corruption by Tammany Hall.

Between 1928 and 1932, Hoover felt pressure to save the American farmers and imposed tariffs. Those tariffs were a contributing factor to causing the Great Depression.

1932 election map:
Roosevelt got 42 states out of 48
Herbert Hoover got 6.
Talking about flipping the tables.

Roosevelt was the first Democrat to be elected president since 1916, the first to win an outright majority of the popular vote since 1876, and the first to win a majority of both the electoral and popular vote since 1852. Hoover was the only incumbent president to lose an election between 1912 and 1976, and the only elected incumbent to do so between 1912 and 1980. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1932_United_States_presidential_election

Wait until Trumpers go to Walmart and find the shelves sparse, if not empty. Wait until their supermarkets have lines that would make Soviet Russia jealous. Wait until their property taxes go up b/c federal aid has been cut to their schools.

2026 will be a whole 'nother election.

When you're about to be foreclosed and/or evicted, when you're low on food, when you can't find money to put gas in the car to go to work, let's say your priorities shift.

The homeless can vote in Washington State. During election season back when I was working in the homeless community, my patients would all ask me for voting recommendations for candidates who supported public health initiatives, and so on.

Point out as many things as you like that Trump has done that either are hurting them now, or will sooner or later. They will just reply (with so much uniformity I'm starting to think they are MAGA-mandated talking points) : "I still support him because he's doing good things for the country."

I'm not kidding; those are the exact words they have all been parroting.

Water can wear away stone. But it takes a long, long time...

We don't have a long time.

FOX viewers will dwindle as well social media fans of Trump -- because they won't have the money for cable TV and/or online services.

All they'll have is limited AM-radio syndicated programs of Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, etc.

They will miss their forays into Walmart. They will miss tickets to monster truck rallies. They will have to cut down their consumption of Bud to one 6-pack a week.

Trust me, their anger at TSF will be greater than their manifested hatred for "Radical leftist Communists".

And trust me - they will blame someone else for everything he does. They believe he has been sent by God, and they aren't going to question God.

Now, will they thin out as they die off? Yes. But that's going to take a long time because the majority of what *I* see here are thirty to forty year old men with long-ass, ugly beards driving their big bubba trucks DARING anyone to oppose them.

They are ignorant.

Sure, blame Joe Biden for being evicted, losing a job, not having enough beer, etc.

But Joe Biden isn't in a position to fix anything.

The focus will be on whoever's in charge to "fix things". And TSF can't do the GWTW Prissy number of "I don't know nuthin' about birthin' babies!" The Buck Stops Here.

This is the point that you are missing with relation to my post. They. Are. Ignorant.

They will believe whatever TSF tells them to believe, and he will NOT be telling them that any of that is his fault. Cult members generally follow the cult leader.

We can agree to disagree.

A large swath of people who bothered to vote don't pay a lot of attention to politics, and can change direction with the wind of their social groups. Voters are fickle. Some voted for Obama then Trump.

And a lot of the Democratic base didn't bother to vote. Many independents did not see Kamala Harris as presidential material, and strongly disliked her. Yes, I know, dislike for Trump should have been overwhelming.

I'm predicting a huge turnout for the midterms. What I can't predict is whether we will have free & fair elections.

They are all the same in one respect. They hated US enough to settle for HIM - whether that meant actually voting for him or else refusing to take the time to get out and vote against him. No one can claim ignorance of what Trump is and stands for after suffering through the first term.

I sincerely and genuinely HOPE that you are correct and we see change in the midterms. And I definitely share your concerns about whether there will still be free and fair elections at that point.

They aren't brainwashed just to hate Dems, they are brainwashed to hate everyone. They think empathy and compassion are evil, they think freedom means only caring about yourself, they think caring for others is unAmerican. That's where they're at psychologically, that anyone who isn;t behaving in the most selfish way possible is anti American. And they have this entire media, information, and even antertainment ecosystem that feeds this to them every day.

My father was in Germany at the tail end of WWII.

The Germans were ecstatic to see American GI's.

Why, I asked Dad. The US just bombed the hell out of Dresden.

Dad replied that people will support anyone who gives them food when they're starving.

I know that's probably an unpopular opinion but there has always been around 30% of voters who have always wanted this kind of authoritarianism.

It's the mushy middle that needs to turn. The sooner the better.

...I said in 2016.

And again in 2020.

And once more in 2024.

Surely it'll happen this time!

Meanwhile, Trump has only gotten more popular over the years.

In 2016, he won 46% of the vote.

In 2020, he won 47% of the vote.

In 2024, he won 50% of the vote.

Trump is more popular today than he was at this point in 2017 on average.

People have been predicting the collapse of Trump since 2015 and every single time, they've been wrong.
