India says it attacked nine sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir

The Indian armed forces have confirmed it targeted nine sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir as part of “Operation Sindoor”.

A statement from the Indian armed forces reads:

A little while ago, the Indian Armed Forces launched ‘OPERATION SINDOOR’, hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed.

Altogether, nine (9) sites have been targeted.

It said its actions have been “focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature” and that no Pakistani military facilities were targeted, adding:

India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution.

The statement says the strike comes in the wake of the “barbaric” attack in which dozens of Indians were murdered in Pahalgam in Kashmir.

That's bullshit. When it's a country's military doing it, it's an escalation over terrorists doing it. And Pakistan says 3 civilians, including a child, were killed:

Two civilians in Kotli, in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, and a child in Bahwalpur, Pakistan, have been killed in India's strikes, a spokesperson for Pakistan's military says.

Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry adds that 12 more civilians were injured in Ahmedpur Sharqia in Bahwalpur, according to reports from Pakistani media Geo News.

He also says a family including a child have been trapped under the rubble of a collapsed house.

This appears calibrated.

Pakistan would do well to capture and turn these terrorists over to India. That's probably too much to hope.

The best case scenario here is for Pakistan to admonish India for bombing their territory but acknowledge India's rage and state that they don't want to create an international crissis defending a group of people who probably got what they deserved.

The most beautiful place I've ever had the luck to visit was Kashmir. My heart hurts.

It was the 80s and even as a young person fairly oblivious to history, the tension between India and the Muslim residents was unsettling.
