General Discussion

Trump is President - thinking about his mental state as it is now.
India and Pakistan are actively engaging in conflict. Both of them have nuclear weapons. Do we have any ability to influence or rather de-escalate this situation and how will Trump react if there is an escalation in the conflict.
The wonderful Tariffs will start impacting us within the next couple weeks. Within a month, there might be shortages (major or minor, who knows) and it will be hard to hide or lie about the impacts.
Companies will start to lay off people in response to the economic impact of the Tariffs - this will not be good public news for Trump and the nation.
The tourist industry (airlines, hotels, airlines, vacation resorts, restaurants) starts to feel the impact of foreigners no longer visiting America.
We start to experience high unemployment with inflation - and the media no longer buys that it's Biden fault.
At some point we will start to feel the impact of the cuts to the Federal Workforce. Just think what is happening to the airline travel.
In the fall we will start to feel the impact of the cuts (school lunches, senior support, etc.) to our social programs.
Assuming that the GOP passes the budget with an estimated $500 billion cut to Medicaid and other programs. Or rather the transfer of responsibility to the States from the Federal Government. Some states might be able to adjust to the cutoff of federal funds, but the Red states probably not. So, now, there will be an influx of people without health care combined with reduced funding to the hospitals.
As someone mentioned - he and his administration are eliminating subject matter experts, alienating the institutions where normally he could solicit advice and guidance.
I suspect that there will be more protests, larger protests all around the nation.
The mainstream media decides to start telling the truth because it can no longer be covered up.
He has selected a Cabinet not based on their abilities but rather for their ability to be "kiss-ass". This is when he will need the best advice possible.
The GOP Congress who has been absence in their responsibility to be part of the government - continue their role as Trump's lapdog.
I am wondering, how will the stable genius handle all of these issues? How will he react, respond and deal with all of these issues that he no control over?
Just wondering, anyone else thinking about these issues (and there are more that I didn't think of during this rant) and how Trump will deal with these things. At a time that we will need a president rather than a reality star - what happens? How does he cope with reality, a reality of not nice things.
Deuxcents
(26,912 posts)Do you mean the responsibilities of the Presidency OR the Presidency?
If the first - there is no avoidance of the responsibilities - or maybe you mean, he will hide from the Press, the Public?
Second - resign? We could be so lucky, but keep in mind - JD Vance has no real government experience either.
Deuxcents

Justice matters.
(9,786 posts)He knows judge Merchan can restart the sentencing (paused without prejudice) and any possibility of jailtime for his 34 felonies is not one of his options...

I expect that #47 will unleash goons on the citizens. Perhaps hell shut down the country and say there is a plague,
Expect the worse and multiply it by 10.

(5,179 posts)But continuing with your thought... how will the military respond now that it appears that the Sec. of Defense is considering eliminating 20% of the senior general staff.
