There are morning and afternoon sessions. There are breaks for lunch and dinner, during which time the Cardinals return to Casa Santa Marta, a nearby guesthouse which also is where the Cardinals spend the evenings and sleep.
And they're not as old as you think. The youngest is 45, the oldest 79. The average age is just around 70.
