(23,656 posts)The way the Right has twisted the teachings of Christ to mean cruelty and revenge is just so wrong. I am not religious, but it's so disheartening to see so many so self identified Christians going along with so much evil. A prominent voice reminding them what the Christ actually taught is really needed right now. And there's no more prominent a voice in Christendom than the Pope. I hope he is in the US often.

(10,955 posts)I would never suggest the Catholic Church would hold a grudge or take reactionary actions because of a mentally handicapped imbecile in the White House, but still... sort of a classic FAFO moment in response to the picture of Trump dressed as pope to name an American with strong liberal values from Chicago (also known as a city Trump hates because of President Obama). (Joking OOBVIOUSLY!!!)
Good luck to Pope Leo XIV, may he lead long and continue the work started by Pope Francis and continue the purge of the odor left by Pope Bennedict as well.
