Today is VE Day, (May 8, 1945) the end of the war in Europe. Trump wants to rename it Victory Day.

To celebrate it, Trump posted the following on Truth Social.

It’s an image of an iconic photo of marines raising the flag atop Mt Suribachi after the Battle of Iwo Jima, which most high school students would know was against the Japanese in the Pacific. VJ Day was Aug 15, 1945.

5. Lord! The raising of the flag on Iwo Jima took place on February 23, 1945.

It didn’t even signify victory on the island; the battle continued for more than a month until March 26th. It had nothing to do with VE Day, and as others have pointed out, occurred in the Pacific, not Europe.

It probably goes without saying that we here have learned to control our urges, we don't just spout out the first thing that comes to mind. We give things a second thought. We check, we make sure what we're saying is correct or defensible. And we expect our government to be the same way - with tact and diplomacy. But here we are with elected representatives no wiser than third graders. Third graders who have never learned to act any smarter, leaders who do not run out of stupid things to do. So here we are, hoping that at some point people will think enough is enough. Hoping they stop fanning the fires and join the fire line instead. It's a shame that it has to first become personally harmful for them to do it.

I have watched COLLEGE kids who can't even place the Civil War in the right century. 😳 I wouldn't know the exact day of that picture myself and I am in my late 50s. You could call me stupid too, I suppose. Not to defend Trump but it seems to me Dems need to find a better strategy to win the Mid-Terms. It feels like Groundhog's Day up in here. 😬😬😬
