(3,583 posts)Clearly its the policy now to behave like fascist brown shirted thugs.
The brutality and cruelty exhibited by Federal immigration agents is shocking, but not surprising theyve been given license by Trump to conduct themselves like organized criminals, and they take full advantage of it, gleefully engaging in acts of violent hatred with immigrants, with no regard for decency or the rule of law theyre supposed to uphold.

(45,512 posts)Would they really tolerate it if someone treated their mother or sister like that?. Are they just all unfeeling little bastards?

(55,844 posts)omg the world is so upside down. occupied by Trump's MAGA the government is like a legion of double agents that's turned everything inside out as they say in the spy game. The inmates are running the asylum.
Wait until there are Independent Cities with autonomy, no laws! Leon's henhouses to multiply his children. Women will be breeding sows.

(8,935 posts)First, it is intended as an intimidation tactic.
Second, it is to shield their identities from the public, so that in the event there is ever an attempt to prosecute any of them for their crimes against the citizenry, it will make it very difficult to identify individuals for charging purposes.
And third, I believe that it is an attempt by the agents to try to distance themselves from their own actions. What I mean is that I believe these agents know full well that what they are doing is wrong, and many may even feel pangs of guilt about it. So they need a way to psychologically distance themselves from what they are doing. When they don masks, they feel anonymous, which makes it easier to think of themselves as good, decent people, even as they carry out acts that their own consciences have trouble with.
That's my theory anyway.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
