Musk believes his own bullshit and Tesla is paying for it

But heres the kicker: while Tesla markets itself as the pinnacle of safety and innovation, these numbers suggest something else entirely. Critics point to overreliance on Autopilot and Full Self-Driving features, creating a dangerous mix of driver overconfidence and system flaws.
And lets not ignore the design issueslike those futuristic electronic doors that might look sleek but have been deadly in emergencies, trapping occupants in fiery crashes.
Meanwhile, regulators are debating scaling back crash reporting requirementsa move that seems tailor-made to let Tesla and other automakers off the hook. The American public deserves transparency and accountability, not more excuses wrapped in a tech bro sales pitch.

(8,494 posts)Last week one of them went to Cyber-heaven at around 60K miles. The other will likely follow suit fairly soon. For comparison I test drive two Rivian parcel vans, both of which will roll over 100k miles soon with their original drive train and batteries. The Rivians have both far exceeded their life expectancy under test conditions.
My advice...buy a Rivian...don't buy a Tesla unless you want to spend most of your time waiting for it to be returned from the shop.
