(89 posts)It occurs in fair skinned people for unknown reasons and is made worse by alchohol, sun/heat exposure, spicy food and several other factors. One characteristic of rosacea is inflamed facial skin. The stereotype of the drunken Irishman is based in the prevalence of the condition among descendants of the Fair Isles. The condition is well known among my Irish family, since our ancestors immigrated after the 1916 Rising to avoid imprisonment by the British.
However, I agree that Tom Holman is probably a drunk, since he could only rationalize his despicable cruelty from the bottom of a barrel of rotgut.

(46,058 posts)Rosacea is basically adult acne. Ive had it for several years. Heat exacerbates it for me.
