It implies that the party has changed from the party they were loyal to, and it gives them an opening to denounce the party without feeling like they're betraying their own. It also allows us to imply that we believe the person we're talking to is not like those Republicans.

I like it.

GOP is all for the corporations.
Democrats are for the people.

That was 51 years ago. I left him after 12 years.
