Free is always the most expensive option
My background includes several decades owning sailboats of various sizes and vintages. One thing often stated in many different ways is that the most expensive boat is the one that's free.
Somebody needs to explain this to TSF in the context of a jumbo jet. That free jet will cost over $1B to make it work right and it could take many years to do all the refurb work.

Am I the last to know? The Qatar jet offered to Trump turns out to be an item unsuccessfully for sale since 2020. The "gift" is not only a Trump grift, but also an attempted scam on the US taxpayer, who will assume costs the owners no longer wish to pay. - David Frum
