I did a quick look but did not find an article on this yet. I did see this video of Baraka just being let into the facility a few days ago.

(39,146 posts)Baraka was arrested outside Delaney Hall, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Newark, on May 9 during a visit with members of New Jersey's congressional delegation.
"After extensive consideration, we have agreed to dismiss Mayor Baraka's misdemeanor charge of trespass for the sake of moving forward," Habba said in a statement posted to social media Monday.
Baraka, who is currently running for governor, appeared in court last week. At the time, prosecutors had indicated they would take the case to trial...

I agree, this is very important.

(9,807 posts)And if they would go to court, the Congresswoman will definitely win. Notice how they have released no video evidence to support the charges? That's because they have none. This is just performative bullshit designed to try to intimidate. It won't work.

(12,412 posts)But, honestly, Id also expect to be arrested.
Havent seen any video of her, so dont know for sure what happened.
Id hope prosecutors make their point whatever they think that is and work out some resolution. Id contribute to her defense fund, and if I were a juror, shed walk.
EDIT: Just read this from WaPo. Think DOJ has some explaining to do because it doesnt sound serious (elbows appeared to touch), and she was protecting a colleague.
Video released by the Department of Homeland Security showed McIver rushing after the agents as they attempted to arrest Baraka outside the facilitys gates and shouting to protesters outside to surround the mayor. At one point, McIvers elbows appear to make contact with a masked officer amid the crush of the crowd.

(5,813 posts)This wasn't federal property, it was a corporate contractor's space. That corp was a scofflaw which wasn't allowing required fire safety inspections.
