Cory Booker votes to confirm Jared's criminal father as ambassador to France !!!!

I’m trying to get my head around the fact that
Sen. Cory Booker voted to confirm Jared’s criminal father!!!

Can someone make sense of this? I’m assuming that their friendship involves political donations.
But Gosh , he just held the floor of the Senate to dismantle the lies of the republicans and the danger to democracy.
I guess he was just ???

Makes you wonder. Vote presen, or abstain. Anything but TSF's choice and former slumlord...and to France, one our top alllies.

Booker just scratched his name off possibles for presicent in '28.

Maybe Kushner contributed to Booker or they were aquantences in Kushner’s so called “philanthropic” ventures.

Otherwise it’s still a bit odd. Charles Kushner did serve time in federal prison and was later pardoned by Trump . He definitely doesn’t deserve one of the country’s most prized ambassadorships.

campaigns in the names of his partnerships when he lacked authorization to do so. In 2005, following an investigation by United States attorney for the District of New Jersey Chris Christie negotiated a plea agreement with him, under which Kushner pleaded guilty to 18 counts of illegal campaign contributions, tax evasion, and witness tampering.

The witness tampering charge arose from Kushner's retaliation against William Schulder, his sister Esther's husband, who was cooperating with federal investigators against Kushner. Kushner hired a prostitute to seduce his brother-in-law, arranging to record a sexual encounter between the two and send the tape to his sister.

He was sentenced to two years in prison and served 14 months at Federal Prison Camp, Montgomery, in Alabama before being sent to a halfway house in Newark, New Jersey, to complete his sentence.

He was released from prison on August 25, 2006.

I am actually surprised that Booker voted for him because he was not just found guilty of fraud but was disgusting. He had already completed his prison sentence before Trump pardoned him.

I think he is a terrible person to represent the US anywhere, but Paris is a post almost always given to a close friend or big donor. I doubt any replacement if the nomination was defeated would be better.

relationship." He told senators that he is a child of Holocaust survivors who came to the United States after World War II, and his grandmothers and other members of his family were executed by Nazis.

New Hampshire Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, the top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, told Kushner that his nomination comes at a “critical time” because “our European allies are anxious.”

Shaheen also asked Kushner about his criminal past. He replied that he made a “very, very, very serious mistake, and I paid a very heavy price for that mistake.”'

Booker is a long-time ardent and vocal supporter of Israel. He has taken pro-Israel positions on BDS, for example, being the sole Democratic co-sponsor of a controversial BDS bill. His positions on the Iran nuclear deal, the 2014 Gaza war and the current war are also troubling from a pro-Palestinian or progressive perspective. I noted also that he did not address the humanitarian situation in Gaza, or made much mention of Gaza at all, during his 25-hour speech.

in the past as both are in NJ. Reciprocity, y'know.

FWIW, it's possible that Kushner will be as successful as Joseph P. Kennedy was at the Court of St. James. (“Democracy is finished in England. It may be here.” https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/features/kennedys-democracy-finished/) And remember that France isn't enthralled with TSF, let alone the American Ambassador.

Making sense of it is easy: The Kushners have donated to Corey booker's campaigns in the past. Booker also considers Jared and Ivanka among his friends.

He should have still voted party line: FUCK NO!

But it makes sense. (Though I think it's stupid of him.)

The best choice would be to stay focused on the topic at hand which is Cory Booker, not Bernie Sanders. While it seems unlikely that there's anyone here without an opinion on him, I think it's important to recognize that any feelings I may have (or not have) towards him are of zero relevance within the context of this thread... even if the opinions held by others may bother you, or if they remain unknown to you. It's irrelevant and simply doesn't matter. Wouldn't you agree?

Bye! Have a nice day.
